In 2008, I took a family summer holiday in the Austrian Alps.
We stayed in a village of Fusch, near popular tourist center Zell am See.
This village is the starting point for the famous Grosglockner Hochalpenstrasse mountain road, built just after World War II. On the way there are several very nice sight-seeing places from which you can admire the beauty of the surrounding Alpine valleys and peaks in case of nice weather. There are also cycling races every year.
The final stop is the Grossglockner Gletscherbahn with its large car parking, where you can admire the remains of the original glacier.
On the way back, I recommend stopping in the village of Heiligenblut, which is located in a beautiful valley. Village is dominated by a historic Gothic church with a cemetery.
As the route is at a high altitude of up to 2600 meters, it is necessary to take warm clothes during the summer. Destination Is ideal for 1 day family trip by car.
This place looks like in a fairytale, the photos that you took are unique and I can see that you had a great time with your family. Do you combine trips with photography? Because that’s my favourite combination every time when I go somewhere.
I have never been in the Austrian Alps but I wish to go there one day because I think it’s one of the most beautiful places in the world that everyone should see in his life.
I recommend you to add more description to the photos. Posts with more content and good photos have a good chance of being featured or chosen for a Friday Favorite post. Here you can read also 14 helpful tips for using Connect which will be very helpful.
I must say that all those views that you captured are simply breathtaking! One can really feel getting connected with nature there.
You mentioned that there used to be a glacier. Are there any parts of the glacier that are still present? I guess it would mean that many rivers rise from there.
