🚨 Attention Needed: Google Maps Reward Delay! 🚨

Hey there, fellow Local Guides and Google enthusiasts! I’m reaching out to shed light on a pressing issue that many of us are facing regarding Google Maps rewards. It’s crucial to bring attention to this matter and seek assistance, so please join me in this quest for resolution.

Back on May 3rd, I was over the moon when I received my very first Google reward—an exclusive Google Maps Pin. Eagerly placing my order, I anticipated its arrival, and on May 5th, I even received the tracking details. However, since then, I’ve been plunged into disappointment as neither the pin nor any updates have made their way to me.

Desperate for answers, I turned to the post titled "Question about a Local Guides reward email? Read this first" by the esteemed AriMar, Google Editor. Hoping for a glimmer of hope, I left a comment seeking clarification, but, unfortunately, my plea went unanswered. It seems like many others are facing the same predicament, which calls for immediate attention.

In my pursuit of a solution, I stumbled upon a FAQ link in the comment section. According to the provided information, some rewards are shipped internationally, necessitating a waiting period of up to 6 weeks for delivery. Furthermore, tracking numbers are unavailable in these cases. The FAQ did offer a solution for those who received damaged items or failed to receive their packages after the 6-week mark—a replacement request process.

Eager to resolve the issue, I diligently filled out the form, only to be met with a disheartening response: “It appears your order is still processing/getting ready for shipment. Please allow up to 6 weeks from your original order date.” Six weeks? That would mean I should have received my package by June 26, 2023. Regrettably, it has been considerably longer than that, leaving me feeling frustrated and neglected.

Therefore, I kindly request the assistance of the esteemed individuals at Google who have shown dedication and expertise in helping others in similar situations. @MashaPS @InaS @DeniGu and @AriMar if you could spare a moment to lend your expertise and support, it would mean the world to us. We, as the devoted Google community, are eagerly awaiting a resolution to this issue that has left us disheartened.

hello,

i received notification of earning a reward on March 14th. I placed the order and waited 11 weeks before it would allow me to place the replacement order.

Replacement order was finally placed on May 31st. this week marks week 7 and I still haven’t received anything.

that’s a total of 17 weeks to get nothing. interestingly, my girlfriend got a notification of earning the reward 3 weeks after me and got the pin delivered 4 weeks later. for reference, I’m a Level 8 Local Guide and she is Level 7.

Your post is very important for us.I am also facing the same problem.I had also achieved the reward.I got the email on 14 March 2023, then my order was confirmed on 15th March 2023.Next I got email on 23 March 2023 that my order had shipped.My order had reached in my country and I was got a tracking number.Then no more updates showing where it is.

I waited for a long time but it was not delivered to my home.Then I have placed re order on 1st July 2023.No email has arrived yet.

It is really good that you have given importance to this issue.

sadly, i don’t have many other recommendations other than what you’ve already tried.

i would, however, suggest continuing to go to the FAQ page and attempting to create a replacement order. at some point it finally let me do it and will likely let you, as well. granted, it will be long after the 6 weeks it states, but you’ve already waited this long.

to answer your other question, yes, my girlfriend, whom does not live in the same household as me, did receive hers. that is correct.

Please help us, we are stuck on “It appears your order is still processing/getting ready for shipment. Please allow up to 6 weeks from your original order date.” ! Whenever we try after 6 weeks.

Thank you for reporting the issue that you are facing with the reward delivery.

I have received rewards from Google several times in the recent past both as a local guide and as a moderator.

Based on my experience with Google and also gift shipments from other places, I can assure you that the delivery problem is India specific, especially the customs dept.

Many times, the shipment is stuck up at customs, for lack of formality. The courier company has to submit document on our behalf which they ask us to submit to them in turn and there is a huge miscommunication at this point. Several times, the call center of the courier company calls us, and I have missed it on a couple of occasion and those number are not reachable.

This might result in not receiving the parcel at all.

If the connecting agency is Government of India Post, I have seen that they make multiple attempts to reach out to us.

Else, it is easy to not receive the parcel.

This is purely based on my personal experience.

I don’t think Google in the US can do much beyond communicating to you about the award and subsequent shipping, though I also do not know the policy of Google in this regard.

I am moderator for the LG Connect platform and have very little or no visibility about the gift shipping from Google which is entirely an internal process.

Ask me anything India-shipping specific, I can answer it based on my experience so far.

@teenywriter Sorry to hear about the challenge. While my Colleague Tushar has given you a hint of his experience which we have seen also from many LGs from India, I would suggest you wait for the Google Moderators you tagged to give you a feedback.

Also, since you have filled the form, you would also get a response. Meanwhile, try to send an email directly to Local Guides team to see how to resolve this.

Do not be discouraged, as we also experience such challenges most a times not from Google by the way.
