This is part 2 of the previous post about travelling from Atlanta downtown to the airport using the Marta Metro train.
The metro line is also called the Airport line and the last stop on this line is the domestic terminal of the airport.
If you are flying international from Atlanta like I did, the terminal is a further 10 minutes away by bus from the domestic terminal.
Fortunately, there is a free connecting shuttle service.
This post shows how to take that free bus.
After you deboard the Marta Metro train, go down to the ground level using the escalator. To do this follow the direction boards that say Ground Transportation.
Exit the terminal as shown in the image below. This photo shows the entrance to the domestic terminal from where you will exit. I took this photo from across the street to show you where to exit the domestic terminal.
After exiting the domestic terminal, cross the street and on the left side look out for the board that says ‘ATL International Pick Up Only’ in blue.
The same board from the backside is orange and looks like this.
Overall, you should be at a place from where the view is as shown in photo below.
Head further and walk past the board where you will see people in a queue and transportation staff in either a blue uniform or a fluorescent green jacket.
The frequency of the bus is 10 minutes.
Inside the bus is lavish space for all the luggage and the attendant is more than happy to load the luggage on to the racks.
Also, there are seats reserved for the differently abled.
After about 10 minutes of travel, the bus will drop passengers at the international terminal which has fully automated self-check-in kiosks that will print everything from the boarding pass to the baggage tags.
After that as I started moving toward the gates, I found there were several large sized Coke vending machines nicely decorated with the classic coke red color theme and the machines are accessible too.
This post along with the previous one about reaching the airport from downtown will give the complete visual guidance on how to reach the airplane seat starting from your hostel bed in just 2 dollars.
Where to Stay in Atlanta
I stayed in the cozy and inexpensive Motel6 conveniently located in downtown and walking distance from most tourist places in Atlanta.
