Hello, everybody! ![]()
On this occasion, I want to make the first post about my country
and its food since I recently visited Bariloche
in January of this year.
I hope you will find some of my suggestions useful.
- Name: Stag
I would like to start with this restaurant, which was not the first one I visited, but it was the outstanding one in terms of experience and food.
![]()
Stag stands out as one of the top restaurants in Bariloche and well deservedly so. As I like to do a little gastronomic research before going to a certain place, I already knew about the existence of Stag before arriving in Bariloche.
Thanks to the Google reviews, I also understood that it is quite advisable to make a reservation a couple of days in advance to ensure a place and if luck and availability warrant, an excellent view. ![]()
The place is located at the Charming Hotel in Bariloche, but it is not necessary to stay there to access the restaurant.
I recommend going before sunset, mostly so you can enjoy the wonderful view it offers and how the landscape changes as night falls. ![]()
It is a restaurant specialized in “Slow Food” (as opposed to fast food) which proclaims the enjoyment of food, respecting the steps, times and above all savor the ingredients and local dishes.
We were received with a shot of gazpacho, a bread basket and carrot mayonnaise.
As a starter we ordered some grilled lamb gizzards with roasted beets and preserved lemon and a corn creme brulee with tomato chutney. Both were delicious!
Although the portions are small, that’s why we ordered a double entree.
As a main course, we ordered the famous rack of lamb
with a potato risotto and some vegetables. ![]()
The dish was exquisite, and no doubt enjoyed from start to finish, it was very well done.
For dessert we ordered a two course creme brulee made of dulce de leche, which, when we told them it was to be shared, they brought us a bigger portion (great detail)
The attention was totally personalized, at all times we were consulted (without being annoying) if we needed something.
Regarding the prices, the menu is on their page and although it may be high, not only is paying for the food, but a unique experience. It’s not a restaurant you go back to every week, but yes, it’s worth going and seeing.
Let’s keep going! ![]()
- Name: El Paraje Cerveceria
El Paraje, was undoubtedly our surprise in Bariloche and it ended up becoming one of our favorite places. ![]()
We discovered it as it was opposite our hotel (Alma del Lago)
and we had no idea about it until we saw it there.
The first day, after an intense walk, we were tired and did not feel like going back to the hotel and going out again, so we just got lazy and decided to give the brewery in front of us a try. Thank God we did!
We asked for a Patagonian picada that is to be shared and it only cost $800 ARS, which is quite affordable compared to the prices that are usually handled nowadays. When we saw the table,**we couldn’t believe it
.**It was super complete, with different types of meat and smoked cheese, plus exquisite sauces and breads.
Added to the drinks, we must have spent $1,200 ARS. It’s worth mentioning that the beer is delicious and from 18 to 20 hours they have a happy hour which ends up costing $70 ARS per pint.
We came back a total of 4 more times, in different parts of the day either to have a snack, a drink or lunch.
In one of those visits, we ordered the burgers which are a BOMB
in addition to the fries. We literally had to take a 1 hour break to resume our activities as they do not skimp on ingredients.
I leave you another picture of another Patagonian picada, which is changing sauces and some other ingredients, which we found quite right.
Without a doubt, I recommend this place 100%. The service is normal, just like any other beer garden/bar/pub in the area.
- Name: Pala Romana
Pala Romana was on the list of restaurants to visit before arriving in Bariloche, simply because they sold a star-shaped pizza
(good marketing) but more importantly, the reviews were excellent.
The particularity of this restaurant, besides the shape of the pizza, is that they also sell Sushi. ![]()
We ordered a medium sized pizza and some Rolls to try, what stood out the most was the Sushi. One of the best I’ve tried so far, very tasty fresh and Rolls above average. The prices are normal but the attention was great, really if you start to analyze, you realize that it is a family business and they run it as such.
- Name: Rapa Nui
One of the pioneers in chocolate
in Bariloche and in the country ![]()
The Bariloche branch is very similar to a McDonalds, because of the amount of people (always very full) several queues to order/withdraw and a touch screen system to place the order. ![]()
It’s just a matter of building up a little patience and trying any of the delicacies they offer.
In this case we ask to share a waffle with dulce de leche and cream. As a drink we asked for a hot chocolate which was VERY but VERY thick, so much so that we couldn’t finish it. It was very good, but for our stomach it was a combination that was too cloying.

There is even an ice-skating rink on the premises where you can rent skates for a while. ![]()
Obviously there are also their famous ice creams and fine chocolates to make gifts and / or try.
We also found the Nacional by chance when we walked along one of the central avenues in Bariloche. It’s quite a big place and we went there without booking.
One thing that I really appreciate is that it has a good bartender who prepares high quality drinks
and abundant desserts.
We asked for a provoleta and a ojo de bife to share, the dishes are big and the price is right.
I found different negative reviews in this place, but as we know, it goes in the experience, tastes and expectations of each one.
I particularly liked it, but I would try other grills if I came back.
- Name: Morfys
As far as food goes, excellent. It was our last restaurant in Bariloche, which had already been recommended to us because of the accessible prices and the “home-made” quality of the food.
We ordered a hot dog with fries
, which is huge at only $250 ARS
. They have much more variety on the menu.
The only thing is that it took a little longer than standard because the place seems small, but it has a lot of tables and both the kitchen and the waiters are very busy, and whenever we passed by it was almost full.
The prices in general are quite good and it really has the home-made taste that they promise beforehand.

Beyond gastronomy, Bariloche is a dream at any time of the year. Those who have the opportunity to go, is one of the many wonders we have in Argentina.
I’ll be doing other kind of posts later on, otherwise it’s going to seem like I live eating (which is true haha) but I also like to write reviews of other kind of experiences.
Thanks for reading!
Gustavo.
