Arg of Tabriz (Arg Alishah) is said to be the remains of the south porch of the citadel of Alishah in the city of Tabriz. The foundation of the first citadel dates back to the eighth century when a large unfinished construction was completed with the aim of building a mosque. In the following years, using the walls left over from the foundation of the first mosque, a military tomb was built instead, which for years was used as a military barracks and the southern part of the city wall.
The use of this building has been evident as a military fortress, especially during the Qajar period. During the Qajar period, the construction of a military building was completed by adding various attachments, including the ball rolling mill, permafrost mansion and barracks building. The sections added to the first walls were destroyed during the Pahlavi era. This work has been registered as one of the national works of Iran with the registration number 170
Today, the only southern side of the citadel, which is open for public use in the hours of the day.
