Are you ready to meet the Mother Goddess in the noble seats of the Metropolis Theater?

The ancient city of Metropolis, between Yeniköy and Özbey villages in Izmir’s Torbalı district, takes its name from the mother goddess Meter Gallesia, which is leaning against the Gallesion Mountain. Castle, Bouleuterion (Assembly Building), Theater, Upper Bath, Latrina, Lower Bath, Water Cistern and House with Atrium are the structures that can be seen. Also, the view against the Torbalı plain of the city is wonderful.

Metropolis Ancient City, which I have visited 4 times since 2018, has revealed many buildings as a result of excavations.

Especially the Upper Roman Bath, Lower Roman Bath, Mosaic Hall and Tiyato are worth seeing.

You can find all the details about Metropolis Ancient City in the video I prepared.

Hi @GEZGINKUTUPHANE ,

Thanks for sharing this interesting post with us! Are all the ruins from Roman times? The theater looks like hellenistic, since the Romans used to build round or oval amphitheaters.

@Giu_DiB

The Metropolis Ancient City theater was built with the main elements of Hellenic theater architecture, and has shown differences in certain periods.

Hi @GEZGINKUTUPHANE ,

Thansk for your answer! I have noticed that some of the text you published in your post and in the comment had a strange format and I edited it, in order to make it easier to read.

If you copy text from an external source or editor, I suggest you paste it on Connect as plain text, to avoid fetching some of his technical attributes with it too, since they can interfere with how the text is displayed. :slightly_smiling_face:
