Anyone facing issue in uploading videos ?

Dear All,

I noticed a new UI for uploading videos. When I click on ‘Upload’ and try to drag-and-drop a mp4 video (100 MB size, less than 30 seconds) it is NOT getting uploaded.

I was able to upload similar videos few weeks ago. but facing this issue recently.

Anyone else noticed this ? And if yes, then any work around for me who is trying to upload videos from desktop (not mobile phone).

Thank you.

Hi @DanielTh

At first I thought your video was more than 30 seconds but then noticed not. Just to be sure check its accurate duration in milliseconds.

Also, try it on another device (I suggest a phone) to see the result.

Yes. its only 17 seconds, and file size is 160 MB.

Is the file size the problem or the new UI for upload is not accepting videos ?

Hi again @DanielTh

It would be good if you use @ to mention so we receive an email notification.

Previously I faced such an issue but I forgot about it and in my last tries, everything were OK even last week. After your report, I tested again myself and got the same error on the desktop. Then I uploaded it to Google Photos and used the Google Maps interface to upload from Google Photos.

On the first try, I received an error that told me Videos should be under 30, while my video was only 16 seconds with the size of 20 Mb!

Then I uploaded it by phone and it was successful. However since another issue these days, it was placed under the Updates tab while I wanted to upload it not as an update. So, I removed it and tried again to upload it via Google Photos. This time it was successful!

So, I think this is a temporary error based on the server glitch sometimes and you can wait some days or try to upload by other methods as I mentioned before.

A lot of problems. At the moment the only way to upload a video is from Google Photos. But, with a lot o issues. Simply terrible!!! Don´t know what to do!!!

Hello Guides,

do anybody have the same problem that the video files cannot be uploaded from desktop browser?

Since the new upload form arrived - which pushes to upload from Google Photos - I couldn’t uploade any videos from my local drive. (Win10, Firefox browser)

Do you have Chrome browser installed? It may work better. I don’t upload videos from my desktop very often, but I have had no problem with it.

@TamasSomfai

Yes, this was reported be another LG very recently. I will try to find it and merge your question with his/hers.

Cheers

@Rednewt74 @MortenCopenhagen @Amiran and everyone -

I am using the Chrome browser latest version - I am facing this upload error from many weeks.

For some reason, the ‘Upload’ option is not working for uploading videos on desktop

With the discussion, it seems many others are facing this error.

Will be great if Google Maps team takes it up for their review and resolution. Thank you all for sharing your views.

@DanielTh the same with me. But, I tried to upload vídeos from the cellphone and…finally ok!! Everything workshop fine. But from the desktop it’s impossible to upload vídeos!!! I hate this!!!

@DanielTh ,

I will try from my desktop just to see. I’m sorry you are having this problem. I’m sure the moderators have escalated the issue.

Dear Google team,

Any update on this issue we are facing in uploading videos by ‘drag and drop’ option on Desktop ?

It still persists for me.

Regards,

Daniel

I’m facing an altogether new issue. I’m unable to write reviews of places I visited in Paris, France. Let alone videos.
Don’t know what’s changed.
After few days of struggle I wrote a review of a place in Paris, and it has put it under ‘Review’
Very strange. Hope someone can explain this. Thank you.
