Flinders Street Railway Station and its clock tower are iconic and cultural Melbourne landmarks. The railway station is the oldest in Australia and is the busiest suburban railway station in the southern hemisphere. It’s the main hub of the Melbourne train network and from here you can catch a train to most of Melbourne’s suburbs. It’s directly opposite Federation Square and most of Melbourne’s trams run past it so you can just about get to anywhere in Melbourne from this central location.
