Amount of mail from Connect!

I find a large number of letters received in my Gmail box very useful, but at the same time am overwhelmed by the sheer volumen that l receive on an hourly basis. If l read everything there wouldn’t be time to do the work necessary yet l am fearful of unsubscribing because l may miss something very important. Ideas?

Sorry to hear you’re not enjoying the emails. As shared in Help Center, “To manage your email preferences, visit the Local Guides settings page. You can unsubscribe from one or all email types (e.g., the newsletter) without affecting others (e.g., benefits). It may take up to 7 days for your email preferences to be implemented.”

In order to reflect most correct and complete information, I added instructions how to manage your email notifications on Connect.

When once you join a discussion and comment to someone post, you are automatically "subscribed and y default Connect will send you email notifications when:

  • There are updates in your subscribed threads.
  • You are being tagged in a post.

In this case you are able to stop Connect sending you any emails. Click your Profile photo at the top right corner of the screen. Then choose My Settings and under personal, choose Email. After that check the option, and save.

Also you are able to change the frequency of how often Connect will send you a notifications. Here are the instructions:

  • Click your Profile photo at the top right corner of the page
  • Choose My Settings
  • Under Subscriptions & Notifications, choose Notification Settings
  • Make your personal settings

And the last one, you are able to unsubscribe from post.

  • Open the post you want to change the subscription
  • Click on the option menu
  • Click unsubscribe/subscribe

Last, but not least keep in mind that sharing personal contact information is not allowed on Connect, so I am going to delete your phone number. For more information please review our Program Rules and Community Policy.

The information is useful no doubt.

One curiosity. How could you edit somebody else’s post to delete a phone number?

Is it possible for non-moderators to do edits of other users posts?

If so that’s great news.

Even then, the apprehension will remain whether you missed something.

In that case, the best option would be setting up filters in your mailbox to capture the topics of your choice and then go through that. The rest emails can go to the trash straight away.
