Recently I travelled to Houston Texas. After having a taste of some local food and drink, I was treated to a popular Nigerian meal. The name of the joint is Amala Zone in Westheimer Houston Texas USA. If you happen to be visiting Houston Texas, this is definitely one of the places to visit for a taste of West Africa.

@AdamGT Recent Google search showed another Amala Zone in Nigeria. I’ve not been to that one but I think it could be linked.

Amala is a popular local food from the western part of Nigeria made from yam (some make it from green plantain) in hot water. It is very rich in carb and protein. You can have it with vegetable soup topped with assorted meat (beef or steak). Most people will have it with “ewedu” a green leaf soup topped with “gbegiri” a ground bean stew (yellow). It will be worth the visit.
