When first I came to my newly rented Flat in Al Reem Island Abu Dhabi (UAE), I did know only the name of the Tower where my wife selected the flat. I said I will use Google Maps to arrive. unfortunately There was another place with an almost similar name and I was lost for half an hour, though Reem island can be toured in 20-25 minutes. Then some guys showed my driver an approximate location, and I reached.
I realized that the Tower where I lived was not a place available on Google Maps. The first thing I did the third day after arriving to my new flat is to add the Tower and two other Towers in the same complex to Google Maps, so others would not be lost like me. Then I discovered a superb Swimming Pool 12 x 40 m at the 8th floor of the Tower, and was delighted to take photos of the Pool and the three Towers it served and post it on Google Maps. I took later other photos from my balcony at the 30th floor and posted them, to make people see and feel the beauty of the curved facades, matching the blue color of the water in the swimming pools at neighboring towers, and beautified by green palms and trees at the 7th of 8th level around the swimming pools. I took photos by night, showing the twinkling lights of the parks and gardens of the neighborhood and posted them. Then I took photos of Carrefour market when it opened in Hydra street 8 months after my arrival, and posted them with reviews in Google Maps to help people searching for markets and food to find them. Last months, I was amazed to receive an email last month from Google Maps that my photos obtained so far 100,000 reviews, and my posts several thousand.
