It overlooks the Al Hada Road, which connects Taif, Al Hada, and Mecca, known in the past as the Darb Kera. It consists of three famous paths across Kera Mountain: one for pedestrians, one for camels, and one for donkeys, intersecting at the middle of the mountain. In the past, these paths were difficult to traverse.
Described by Ammar Al-Yamani in his book “History of Yemen”:
the Taif obstacle takes a day’s journey uphill and half a day downhill to Mecca. It can accommodate three camels with their loads and was paved by Hussein Salama at approximately 430 AH for easier passage. Then there is the Al Hada Road, opened in 1385 AH, which crosses Kera Mountain in the midst of dense forests and steep climbs and descents.
