Agumbe Sunset View Point is one of the most popular spots in the Western Ghats of Karnataka. Known as the Cherrapunji of South India for its heavy rainfall, this place offers a magical view of the sun setting over the dense forests and valleys. On a clear day, you may even spot the Arabian Sea far away on the horizon.
The sunset view point is located on the Agumbe Ghat road (NH-169A), which connects Someshwara near Udupi to Sringeri. The road itself is a beautiful journey with sharp hairpin bends, thick greenery, and a cool breeze throughout. Parking is available right next to the view point, making it very convenient for travelers.
One thing you will surely notice here is the presence of many monkeys around the area. They are harmless but can snatch food items, so itβs better to avoid carrying snacks in hand.
The weather in Agumbe is usually misty and pleasant, especially during monsoon and winter. Since it rains a lot here, the surrounding forests look fresh and green almost throughout the year.
To reach the spot, you can drive from Udupi or Mangalore side via Hebri or from Sringeri / Chikkamagaluru side down the ghat towards Agumbe. Public buses and taxis are available, but traveling by your own vehicle allows you to enjoy the scenic drive better.
