On my recent visit to India, I visited Agra, Uttarpradesh, city which is famous for Taj Mahal! One of the other historic attraction in Agra is Agra Fort. This magnificent fort has witnessed centuries of facinating history and reflects rich cultural heritage of Mughal Empire.
There is a fee to visit the fort, just like many other historical places, fees for indian citizens and foriegners are different. If you are OCI card holder, highly recommend to carry it when visiting these historical places.
As you can see in this picture, place is very popular and attracts lot of visitors, there was a line to enter the facility.
Stepping into the Fort feels like you are doing time travel back in time to experience Mogul Empire. Fort was built during 16th century by the Mughal Emperor Akbar. This server as main residence for the Mughal Dynasty until the capital was moved to Delhi.
These red sanstone walls and intricate design makes it an architectural masterpiece.
Palace complex within the fort has Diwan-i-Aam and the Diwan-i-khas, where emperors used to interact with public.
Within the fort, one of the highlight is Jahangir Palace, built by Akbar for his son, Jahangir. This palace features intricate stone carving and Persian style architecture.

Some red sandstone architecture within the palace complex.
This is where I first got a glimpse of Taj Mahal from Agra fort. This is where imprisoned Emperor Shah Jahan used to look at Taj Mahal.
At the northeastern corner of the Agar fort lies the Musamman Burj, a White marbel tower, known for its beauty. This tower was private residence of Emperor Shat Jahan, who was imprisoned here by his own Son, Aurangzeb. From here Shah Jahan would gaze at the distant Taj Mahal. which he built for his wife Mumtaz.
