adding a new location without being able to indicate correct location

As a blind person, it’s not an easy thing to add a new point of interest for your local community. Today I managed to add my second point of interest:

https://www.google.com/maps/contrib/109786214471931924768/edits/@51.046639,4.6506932,9z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m3!8m2!3m1!1e1?entry=ttu

I can’t see the map, so I hope someone else of the community can place the pin on the correct location. I find this kind of info =public bins etc. are also worth an indication on Google maps because of the local importance for the community. Although I encounter some difficulties, I hope this little effort will serve many people locally.

Thank you so much, @KattyGeltmeyer , this is indeed great.

However the link that you sent to us is related to a part of the profile (edits) that is private (only the author of an edit can see it).

But for sure you can share with us directly the link of the place. On desktop visit the location and click on the “share” button, I am sure you can find it.

That action will opens a Pop-up, where you can find the “copy link” command.

Then share the link in your post. Please make sure to tag me in the reply by using @. In this way I will not miss your reply.

Hugs from Italy

Okay, second attempt to send the link:

Is this the correct one @ErmesT ?

Hi @KattyGeltmeyer , sorry for the late reply

Your pin is in the center of the cross between Werkhuizenstraat and locomotievenpad. If I correctly understood your review the Collecting point is on Locomotievenpad, however I can’t locate the right position on satellite mode (maybe the imagine is too old) and obviously, as the road has no access to the car there is not Street View by Google in there.

If you can give me more indications (e.g. the nearest shops, or bar / restaurants, it would be easier for me to get the exact point of the location

Hi @ErmesT : someone who helps me with a few of my household tasks told me she could find the public binns after I sent her the maps link and the link to the article I sent you privately. It seems the binns are not far from the crossing of the werkhuizenstraat with the locomotievenpad; it’s also possible you see the old situation on the images: binns or containers that are above the ground and not under the ground. The new binns are under the ground and at the same location as the old binns. I’m not sure there are shops or bars etc. nearby, the railway station is nearby, but I’m not sure this can help you in finding the correct location for the pin. Sorry that I can’t be of more help.

Great @KattyGeltmeyer .

I had a check in 3D (the 3 made by Maps in the area is impressive).

Please help me in this: I see some bin on the right side of Locomotievenpad. . The bins are 50 meters from the cross between Locomotievenpad and Werkhuizenstraat when walking East, in the direction of Smidsestraat. The bins are close to a Park, named Centraal Park 3010 . Walking other 70 meters in the same direction, on the left there is a foodcourt. The name is Buurderij Leuven .

Am I correct? If so, I can try to move the Pin

Hugs

Ermes

Hi @ErmesT : I must ask this to someone who knows the environment better than I do and who can describe the direct things nearby. If I would have learned the route to it, I could try to answer the questions. But I didn’t have the chance to explore the route by using the white cane myself with a seeing person learning me how to reach these new bins. So, I forwarded your questions to someone who currently is on a short holiday but when she returns and her husband has enough time to help me with this, I can try to answer the questions.

I wish others living nearby Leuven also could be of any help.

You earlier wrote: “I see some bin on the right side of Locomotievenpad. . The bins are 50 meters from the cross between Locomotievenpad and Werkhuizenstraat (…)” I think these old binns are on the same place where the new bins should be: the old binns are replaced by the new ones under the ground. It’s possible the pin has been moved into the correct place by others, but I’m not sure.

Update: I found out that the correct name of the location is not locomotievenpad but locomotievenstraat and after contacting the administration of Leuven, they also updated their website with the public binns on it. I therefore updated both name of poi and street name, and will share the link:

Hopefully these binss will be found more easily.

Best, Katty
