Here is a list of activities a local guide can do and write about on Connect without getting his or her post flagged for non-compliance with the tags and categories.
In honor of this International Day of Disability, I am writing a blog post on Connect about accessibility in residential areas. @TusharSuradkar & @MortenCopenhagen
It’s part of my accessibility for all series contribution on connect.
Thanks.
I think many if these topics are explained very well already in older posts, so the scope for this series should probably be to introduce the activities and then provide links to where we can learn more and how to sign up/participate.
So we need authors who are willing to present an overview and explains the fun and excitement surrounding the different activities.
Maybe @JanVanHaver or @ErmesT would be willing to introduce how LGs can encourage local authorities to get started with a geodata partnership.
I think we need more of an overview of how LGs can work with accessibility and how this can be interesting and meaningful. And a list pointing out relevant resources.
You know, @TusharSuradkar Dada, I have only focused on the accessibility check and the TRAC campaign since I started using Connect!
CC :- @MortenCopenhagen
Having links to posts that already cover these topics would be fair enough @MortenCopenhagen
The purpose of creating this post is to point local guides to a single place where they can discover what else they can do besides the food and photography topics to which you have strong objections.
Since most local guides still tend to follow the old Connect habits and end up posting what is considered ‘off-topic’ according to the new definitions, this post and the links in the replies will serve as a good place for such local guides to redirect to.
I don’t know more than the fact that leaderboards now have an official tag on Connect. I think a lot of Local Guides appreciate and enjoy participating in @AdamGT project.
This community is pretty much what we make it to be.
What is the reasoning behind your question? If you let me know, I might be able to give you a better answer.
Thanks for tagging me, @MortenCopenhagen .
For sure I can write something about that, I will have to search because there’s an existing topic too that I wrote about involving the public authorities to partner with Google.
What is not clear for me is the incipit of the topic
I don’t see a big difference between what is considered OT now and what was considered OT in the previous platform, with only two exceptions:
during COVID, the team was much more flexible for publications about food, due to the fact that most of us was forced to stay at home.
in the old platform dropping a photo was more difficult than now, so a lot of people is now just dropping photos with a title.
The topics suggested in the list are indeed interesting to cover, but I don’t believe it can be the focus of all the Local Guides that are posting in Connect. We are Local Guides, our main focus is to contribute in Google Maps, and in Connect if we share in the proper way our knowledge about the places this would be fine, IMHO.
Just as an example I think that a topic like this can fit perfectly on your list: Traveling Like a Local - How To write a traveling post
The same can be said for your series about Storefront photos
I just wrote two topic about accessibility, focusing in:
captions in Connect, for making our contributions ADA compliant
accessibility on Google Maps.
A topic that explains why accessibility is important also for businesses, and how we can properly explain this to them is already under preparation
Accessible Life series will restart soon with new Locations, and again the idea is to engage the community about a so important subject.
Clean the world was shutted down due to the pandemic, but I am planning to revamp it too, as it can be an interesting way to share information about the places we clean.
Flat Stanley will restart to share his experience too, even if he’s too young to join the program
Do you have anything else in your mind, @TusharSuradkar ?
