#AccessibleAndhraPradesh -(2)- Bhimavaram Town Railway Station

Before going to Bhimavaram town railway station & before conducting the meet-up, I had many doubts in my mind like, whether the following facilities are available?

  • Whether the railway station has a Wheelchair Accessible entrance?
  • Has it a Wheelchair accessible parking?
  • Is there a clean Wheelchair Accessible Toilet/Washroom?

Through this meet-up, I have cleared all the above doubts about Bhimavaram Town Railway station. It is located in the West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, India.

  • :wheelchair: Wheelchair Accessible Entrance = Yes :white_check_mark:
  • :wheelchair: Wheelchair Accessible parking = Yes :white_check_mark:
  • :wheelchair: Are Wheelchairs available in the Railway station = Yes :white_check_mark:
  • :wheelchair: Wheelchair Accessible Toilet/Washroom = Yes :white_check_mark:

It is perfectly possible to enter the Railway station with Wheelchair.

We can enter the station through Ramp(Right side photos) and also use a small Ramp to the Main entry (First photo). Additionally, they have two Wheelchairs kept ready in the railway station.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the entry & exit, out of the station is controlled by one way - A yellow colour band is tied to the one side steps.

One can freely move with a Wheelchair over the platform; but, as in everywhere, here too the crossing of the tracks from one platform to the other is prohibited through the track. (I have shown the Danger Band)

The waiting halls are constructed using steel and cement with beautiful paintings on the walls. Ventilators are provided for circulating the fresh air from outside to inside; also charging sockets for Gadgets are available. The railway station has a dedicated waiting hall for women and girls (left photo).

The general waiting hall for both genders is reasonably neat (Right photo).

Railway stations have Two lifts, one is on the first platform and the other on the second platform.

We can go to the lift in a wheelchair & enter the same without any hindrance. Inside the lift, the Braille buttons (dots) are provided for the Blind people; also, the different audio announcements guide with the floor number, opening and closing of the door, etc.

Another thing I have observed at the Railway station is the fire fighting equipment; in case of any fire accident in the Railway station or Train, the SAND and SAFE PRO POWDER can be used. Proper markings are provided on these items.

Description: I reached Bhimavaram Town Railway Station in the evening around 04 pm & waited for other Local Guides to join.

I observed everything in the Railway Station and started capturing the movements and accessibility facilities. Waiting halls, sitting arrangements, Safety measures, Cleanness (Dust bin), Water and Washroom facilities were captured.

Due to the crowd around the washroom, I could not capture the photos.

Dustbins with different colours like Blue dustbin for Dry waste and Green dustbin for Wet waste were available (Second and third collage)

High speed Free - Wifi facility around the Railway station benefits many travellers.

In this Banner, I have shown the location of the meet-up, date & time along with the current Covid protocols which are necessary (like social distance, Mask and Hand Sanitizer, etc).

Hi @Nagavijay

Exhaustive Coverage of the accessibility features at the railway station.

The details and photos are impressive :+1:

Also, I like the arrow and other icons added to the photos which make it easier to note and understand the features.

Aso agree that it becomes difficult to take photos at the toilet due to the crowd even when the best accessibility features are found at this place.

Overall, a great article.
