My name is Abolaji Rasaq, a Local Guide from Lagos, Nigeria. One of my favorite things to do is travel as a photographer, while taking landscape and aerial photographs. Aerial pictures give people a current pictorial view of the world from above. It also makes it possible to photograph inaccessible places like mountainous areas, forest etc. I love most to share aerial picture of places in my country because it gives you the panoramic view of places. It gives you that kind of god perspective as I can see vast expanse of my country.
This is a compilation video of my experience flying in and around Lagos, Nigeria.
Being a Local Guide gives me a chance to share my passion for aerial photography with the other Local Guides around the world.I love exploring places with beautiful landscape and scenery, especially places recommended by the locals and other local guides. I always endeavor to fly my drone to take memorable pictures of the vista while the sun is setting or rising.
I am a filmmaker, this gives me opportunities to explore my countries as we shoot in various locations. I like the outdoor life, but love the waterside more. I really like the atmosphere and how I can just sit back and relax while reading and listening to cool music.
I am curious, too curious and I am more curious about my environment. I feel isolated if I don’t know more about a particular place, I’m currently in. And, there I go to explore the area with my camera, taking a walk while taking awesome pictures to feature on Google map. Google Map has helped me a lot. I started using Google map on my Pocket PC. It made it easier to explore my country. As a filmmaker, ability to navigate and explore various locations is a must. With Google map, I can do location recce with ease at a comfort of my home. Traveling around my country used to be very tedious, as you only depend on strangers to ask for directions. Nowadays, I can navigate my cities without hassle. With Google map, I know I will get to my destinations with 90% accuracy.
Before I started active contribution on Google map, I had amassed huge library of pictures that I shot casually. I got a message from Google that my pictures were making differences on the map. Going through my dashboard, I was able to see my progress. I read more about how to contribute to the map, from then I started uploading my backlog of pictures, making reviews and contributing to make the map more useful for the others.
You inspire me to write more about Google maps has been of help. These pictures are amazing! Who says the country is not beautiful! It depends on which angle one is looking at it from! Nice post @bolarzeal
Candidly stunning shots you’ve got @bolarzeal ! I remember vividly the first time we met during my Lagos Boat Cruise meet-up. However, I didn’t really know the stuff you were made of until you showed up with your drone during my Lagos Independence Day Walk which was another meet-up I was hosted. I’m glad you’ve finally shared your awesome drone photos with other Local Guides across the globe. Well done!
