As per Hindu Mythology there are 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva in India.
Shiva is also known as Mahadeva or Bhole Baba and is one of the principal deities of Hinduism.
I have identified and mark all the 12 Jyotirlingas with cities and State they are located in India and the nearest major Airport from where it is easiest to visit. A short brief about each temple is also mentioned.
Click on the below link which will take you to Google Maps and will give details about the same.
This list will be helpful for anyone who wants to get the most out of their time in India. I hope I get to visit myself someday. Feel free to add any photos of your own you might have.
How long do you think it will take to see all 12 of these Jyotirlingas?
@MortenSI I think one needs around 15-20 days to see/visit all these places as all are quite far away from each other (I have visited 11 of these, 1 is yet to be visited). Though these places are religious places and might not be of much of interest for many people but going all these places is like visiting whole India.
I would like to specially recommend a visit to Kedarnath Temple which is in Himalayas. It is closed for around 6 months in a year but the surrounding/motor way is very beautiful. It needs tracking of 14 kms or a helicopter ride. I am sharing 2 photographs. Rest other temple photos I have already updated in Google Maps.
It seems like you’ve made it your mission to visit all 12.
With views like the ones in your photo, it’s hard to find these places uninteresting even if you’re not into religion. Luckily I find both religion and stunning views very interesting. Visiting Kedarnath Temple would be an adventure all on its own it seems. I would love to go there.
@MortenSI I have not planned my next journey yet but may be will post some information about my next journey once I take it. May be it will be a trip to Mumbai, India
