Ability to submit photo evidence when fixing roads

I’m visiting a place and noticed that a rather wide road on Maps didn’t actually exist.

I went online to fix the error via Submit Product Feedback → Add or fix a road.

However, there was no way to add photographic evidence, unlike when making business edits on Maps.

My edit was put in the review queue and as a result, has a decent chance of being rejected, as I explained in this post.

@Ivi_Ge, @Julie_A - any chance for the Maps team to add the ability of submitting photos when adding, removing, or fixing roads?

What a great feature. I cant wait to use it. Edited by myself 11.4.202four it has been a challenge when it comes to editing roads. Use your map markers as guides to the roads should help.

Hi @dandv,

The best way to request the feature would be submitting the feedback via the proper channel.

Please do refer to the following article for the necessary steps.

Ref: How to send us feedback in Google Maps - Computer - Google Maps Help

I explained in this post why the official channels are an inferior mechanism for Google Maps to source feedback from its most loyal and knowledgeable user base.

Yes @dandv, it would be great to have the proper channel for the Google Maps feedback with both way communication and it’s visible status.

To my knowledge, that the only official way to send feedback directly to the Google Maps Team.

Hi @dandv

Great idea.

Do you think submitting screenshots will do or only real life photos?

For fixing roads? Not sure what kinds of screenshots would help given that reviewers already can see satellite imagery, but either way, Maps could use a feature to allow uploading any images to begin with.

Yes, I agree that adding a photo function to road mapping will assist Google Maps in gathering positive and legitimate information from their users, allowing them to build more roads that are now unmapped on the map. Recently, I was mapping or connecting roads that are fully functional, however every time my edit was rejected, I am providing the position of that place where the roads are completely connected and vehicles are operating on them.

I see this a lot when visiting hotels. Some hotels have a lot of walking or bike tour paths around in the mountain or forest. Usually they have a image in the reception to show where you can walk or bike.
Most of these are also mapped on “hiking websites”
A picture of these would make it more obvious to a human reviewer when adding tons of bike paths/walk paths in the woods or mountains.
