Abano Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.864m (9,396ft) above the sea level, located in the region of Tusheti, Georgia, in the central part of the Great Caucasus Mountains. It is the highest drivable mountain pass in the Caucasus. 4x4 vehicles with high clearance only. It’s one of the highest and dangerous roads in the world.

Thanks for your post @Alex_kezevadze . I just wanted to say that a few years back a television news reader friend of mine from Sochi and I were going to drive through Abano Pass but because of the weather, it was closed. She did tell me that the road there is also known as “death road” because there are many fatal accidents there and along the way you can see many roadside memorials to those who have died there. I have been through Sim Bhanjyang pass in southern Nepal which is about 2,500m (8,200ft) so not as high as Abano Pass however it also has breathtaking high elevation views, in fact, some of the best views of the Himalaya.

@AdamGT Yes, the road is open only from June to October. Also in bad weather, it is not recommended to move. The road is very narrow and dangerous. Landslides are frequent and the road closes for several days.
To move on this road, the main thing is a car in good condition, an experienced driver and a love of nature

Is that the Road to Hell ?..Hmmm, No it can’t be, it’s too beautiful !.
Amazing pictures, especially the 1st one…Must have been an insane experience,
Would love to try it on a “Off Road” Motortbike…But with hiking as well ;o)
Fortunately, we have many beautiful regions where there are many mountains and amazing nature.
