A Wild Fruit & A Father's Memory – Trincomalee Whispers

:melon::dizzy: A Wild Fruit & A Father’s Memory – Trincomalee Whispers :sri_lanka: :sri_lanka:

While exploring the calm and green outskirts of Trincomalee, my daughter and I came across a tree that caught our attention. Beneath its shade, we found a humble, sticky fruit called “Naruvili” (நறுவிலி)– also known locally as மூக்கு சளி பழம். :herb:

At first glance, it looked strange – soft, jelly-like, and glistening in the sunlight.
But when we tasted it… oh my, what a surprise!

To take it a step further, we tried something truly village-style:

:spoon: We mixed the naruvili fruit with raw woodapple, added a pinch of salt and roasted chili powder and crushed it all together.

The result?
:collision: A spicy-sour herbal explosion in the mouth —
simple, raw, and deeply satisfying!

:family_man_boy: A Memory Etched in Taste

There we were — my daughter and I — laughing, tasting, and enjoying this unexpected treat under the open sky. No cameras, no crowds, just us and nature’s little gifts. :herb::prayer_beads:

It’s one of those small, beautiful moments that lingers longer than any expensive meal.

Thank You @Shabuj_Ahmmed

Це чудово - гуляти з донькою сільськими доріжками, насолоджуватись спілкуванням, веселитись та куштувати чудернацькі плоди. Донька красунечка :superhero:

This post is absolutely heartwarming — the simplicity of foraging, tasting something wild, and turning it into a father-daughter memory is so special. Moments like these remind us how deeply food, nature, and love are intertwined.

That naruvili and woodapple combo sounds both rustic and delicious — a true taste of the land. @Nava

Thank you so much! Nature truly has a magical way of bringing us closer — not just to the earth, but to each other. That moment with my daughter was simple, yet so meaningful. And yes, naruvili and woodapple — earthy, tangy, and full of memories! :herb::melon: Grateful for these little joys. @NandKK

Hi @Nava,

Thank you for sharing!

To keep the community organized. I am removing the “Attraction”, “Gallery”, and" Local business" tags from your topic as they do not fit with what you shared.

Please note, using the right tags and categories on your topics makes it easier for other Local Guides to find what they’re looking for in the community.

Additionally, I removed some of your content that contains images of children. As general advice I would suggest being careful about posting pictures of children online. As Local Guides Connect is a public community, these kinds of posts are not encouraged to be posted.
