A walk through the little town of Bruges!

Hello LGs,

They say - if you ever land in Belgium, you have to visit both BRUs Brussels as well as Bruges.

Brussels is a very modern city which shines in its own uniqueness.

But Bruges retains its own beauty of an old-time European town.

We reached there late in the morning. There is a bus parking from where visitors are supposed to walk to the main city square. Its hardly 15 minutes. Along the way one can immediately notice the striking beauty of Bruges. The town has maintained its medieval charm. There are lovely canals along the way. On a sunny day on weekends it can be very crowded.

In the main square tourists can visit Historium Brugge for local information & souvenirs. There is the tall bell tower on one side & lovely townhouses on the other. Just beside the main square is an alley by the name “Breidelstraat”. Visit Kathe Wohlfart for souvenirs & Stefs Chocolatier for Belgian Chocolates in this alley. The alley takes you to another smaller square where one can visit Basilica of The Holy Blood to pray & admire the 12th century architecture inside. Walking near the canals, one can find canal boat rides in small boats. Although, the queues for these can be too long its worth seeing this town from a boat.

I have written too much - please enjoy the pictures!

Place : Bruges, Belgium

Eat : Be sure to enjoy the local delicacies - Belgian Fries, waffles & chocolate. In the month of July/August one can enjoy the seasonal Mussels. For those who prefer the standard food, there are McDonalds, Burger King as well near the main square.

PS - Here’s a youtube link of a song from a Bollywood movie which was shot in Bruges. Let me know if you like the melody.

As a Belgian, it gives me pleasure that you like one of my cities.

Beautiful pictures you’ve shared here, @Onkar_Pandhare !

I can confirm that Bruges is the most beautiful city in Belgium, and you should definitely visit it.

BUT, try to avoid weekends, especially in summer as it is really really really crowded.

Haha @Onkar_Pandhare , it is ofcourse jokingly!

I had the feeling while walking there that the population is rather on the older side, and in a lot of homes in the small streets, they tend to put special things at their window to display. Such as leprechauns, midgets,…
