Abuja is the capital city of Nigeria and every day new places, restaurants or cafes open here. Due to the lockdown in Abuja, I have spent a lot of time editing and contributing to Google Maps. This made me have a new found appreciation for editing especially the categories of places as well as an appreciation for photography.
Typically, when I upload photos of a place on Google Maps, I usually focus on food and drinks offered but there are certain places that are so unique that I couldn’t help but capture them so that everyone could see it on Google Maps and one of such places is The Pier Restaurant and Lounge, Kado-Kuchi, Abuja, Nigeria.
The Pier Restaurant and Lounge opened in Abuja last year and has changed the game for being one of the most unique places to visit and dine in Abuja, Nigeria. It features three domes (two opaque and large clear dome at its center), an upper deck which offers views of Jabi lake and a Garden which is right beside the lake.
If you’d like to see my review of the Pier, you can check here. I have also curated a list of 5 Unique Places to dine in Abuja on Google Maps, you can check out the list here to see those places and of course, the Pier is featured on that list.
I liked your post and photos of thePier Restaurant and Lounge @Zino . From some of your photos it looks more like a NASA research project for the next mission to MARS. Is this typical of the restaurant style in Kado-Kuchi, Abuja, Nigeria?
Thank you very much @AdamGT . Haha, NASA might just be working underneath this place.
This place is not a typical restaurant style in Kado-Kuchi or even any part of Abuja. What makes this place unique is because no where in Abuja looks like The Pier. It really standouts from other restaurants in Abuja. Most of which focus on food and not ambiance.
I can understand what you’re saying @Zino as sometimes we just want to eat but other times we want more. At times we also want to enjoy “the being there” experience, the ambiance!
It is even better in person @Austinelewex . The construction seems to be quite sturdy and most like heavyweight however I haven’t seen how the domes hold up during the rain or strong winds.
The restaurant isn’t very expensive but it is similarly priced to an average restaurant in Wuse 2, Abuja. For example, a drink and a starter cost about 5000 naira while a main dish ranges from about 3000 to 7000 naira. It really depends on your choice of food. It is noteworthy that seafood is quite expensive here.
The Pier offers mainly Intercontinental cuisine and cocktails.
The restaurant looks futuristic and a bit cosmic, especially the transparent dome. Your pictures give a good idea of what this place is from the inside and outside. This place is definitely the one I’d love to eat at if I visited Abuja, @Zino
Thank you very much @YuliiaZa , the domes look even more cosmic and futuristic at night time. It is a good addition to any foodie bucket list for Abuja.
Very well done @Zino . Your pictures bring out the beauty of this place. I would love to visit. I went ahead to look through your contributions on Google Map. I must say that your posts look very professional. Wonderful photos. I believe it will be nice if you could host a local guides foodie meetup. I think Abuja is a beautiful city & I will like to be there if you ever choose to do so. Keep up the good work.
