The exhibition “please touch gently (zines, comics, ephemera)” was held at the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA recently
It was part of a three-month exhibition cycle that transformed the museum into a participatory, tactile space focused on self-publishing, independent graphic art, and print culture.
Key exhibits at the exhibition included:
Archival & Classic Comics: Rare editions and nostalgic favourites including Chacha Chaudhary and Sabu, along with Amar Chitra Katha comics.
Regional Indian Comics: Works ranging from Malayalam comics like Boban and Molly by Toms to early Bengali comics from Deb Sahitya Kutir.
Zines & Independent Media: A wide selection of homemade zines, small press publications, and independent graphic novels.
Ephemera & Protest Material: Radical, tactile, and everyday items such as protest posters, pamphlets, and hand-printed materials.
A part of my Comics collection was also on exhibit here
True to its name, the exhibition was “glass-free,” encouraging visitors to touch, read, and engage directly with the materials.
