A Traditional Rajsthani Dinner At Chokhi Dhani, Jaipur, Rajasthan, India

Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan and is world famous for the priceless heritage of the kings and Maharajas. This city has its own golden history and is known for countless ancient monuments, along with this, its hospitality is also very famous.

During my stay in Jaipur, it takes two to three days to do a simple tour of the major monuments like Amer Fort, Jaigarh, Nahargarh, Rambagh etc. and it is very tiring. So to rejuvenate and to entertain myself, I booked dinner at Chowki Dhani which is quite affordable.

Choki Dhani, which is built on the lines of an ideal Rajasthani village, had a refreshing fresh air, customary welcome with a tilak on the forehead and a garland of flowers around the neck, Rajasthani folk dances in traditional costumes, and cultural events were extremely recreational. Hot millet roti in Rajasthani country style with pure ghee and jaggery as a refreshment which was extremely delicious. After enjoying the entertainment-filled programs like camel ride, Kalbelia dance, puppet show, magic show etc., it was time for dinner.

The restaurant was completely reflecting Rajasthani culture. Where waiters were welcoming the guests in Rajasthani attire. It was the first opportunity to have such a traditional Rajasthani royal style meal. We were given Rajasthani colourful turbans and plates were decorated for us on a small table. We were served our favorite batis, kadhi, dal, many types of vegetables, pickles, papad, butter milk and a lot of desi ghee. The waiters were also happily insisting to have more. For dessert, there was churma and gulab jamun. There is no restriction one can enjoy this royal Rajsthani traditional meal as much as one can.
This dinner which was extremely delicious, tasty and visit was quite memorable in the Pink City and I suggest that one must experience the traditional Rajasthani Royal Hospitality at Chowki Dhani which will be beyond expectations.

nice sharing @rizbab28 thank you. besides the food that looks delicious, I am curious about the plates used. it seems to be common in india to use plates that seem to be made from dried leaves that are shaped in such a way that they become plates. is that true? if so, that is really a great environmental conservation effort!

Dear @BudionoS ,
Thanks for your curated response. You are absolutely right these are made of leaves and it’s the traditional style for serving the food. Moreover they are Nature friendly.
