A time capsule of an old memory card - show me the photos in your old memory cards

My daughter was born in 2002. I bought my first digital camera in 2003.
I remember I spent hours and hours researching camera brands and models. At that time (the early 2000s), do you know which camera is the most desired dream camera? It’s Sony’s Cybershot F717. I was gonna buy Sony P9. But I couldn’t negotiate a good price. So I bought a Canon Powershot A70.

And the rest is history.

I guess every photographer has a humble start. My first memory card is a 128MB KingMax brand CF card that was made in Taiwan. I took hundreds of thousand’s photos. Then, we upgrade our camera and our memory card. Now I use a 64 GB card which is 500 times bigger.
I was doing some cleaning and tidying up last night. I found a few small CF cards from all over the place in my storage. I just couldn’t throw them away because they are kind of e-wastes which are not to be binned. And they have no resell value at all. I decided to check what photos are saved on those cards.
This is like opening blind boxes. I had no idea what the photos are. As a matter of fact, I don’t even remember where I got those photos - friends? my old job or I bought it myself…

Now here are what I found.

The oldest photo I found is on this Nikon 64 MB card. I found 18 photos of my son. The pictures were taken on the 8th of March 2009 when he was only one and a half years old. He is in high school now. My daughter is now at university.
The next lot of photos were found on this Lexar Professional 256 MB card. There are 14 photos taken at my son’s school picnic. And that was on the 21st of February 2014.
There are other photos found as well - some of them are my work photo. There are two cards that is empty.

Now show me your old card photo. This is a trip to memory lane.

Lucky you! @TravellerG I look forward to seeing what you find in your old cards:)

@TravellerG do you start a new IG account? I remember I followed you LOL!

Oh wow… that sure is a blast from the (not so distant) past!! And I feel old just knowing how quickly technology as moved on! :joy:

I don’t have any photos or access to my old cards (either because I sold them off with the camera or they are not physically with me at the moment) but my first digital camera was a Sony DSC-W1 that my parents gifted to me for my graduation. I absolutely loved it and I wished I had kept it for sentimental reasons (I gave it to my brother a few years later when I upgraded to a Canon EOS 750D (?) and tried my hand at a DSLR, and I don’t think he has it any more… I dare not ask to find out!). The Sony was using a memory stick/card whilst the Canon was on the CompactFlash cards. And gosh… look at where we are today with the memory size!!
