Hello everyone! 
What better way to start today than by celebrating World Photography Day (August 19th)! As Local Guides, this day holds special significance because Google Maps is where our creativity, dreams, and emotions are captured 
. Every place we encounter, every angle—whether there’s sun, rain, stars, or a sunset 
—we always look for that perfect space or moment to take a photo (or thousands!) that fills us with pride and joy. Many of our photos contain art, tell stories, and represent something special in our lives. 
Here, I’m not sharing a photo I took, but one my daughter 
took of my wife and me on a trip we had planned for the little ones in our family, specifically to the Star Wars area at Hollywood Studios. Despite the forecast of rain, we were lucky enough to have a sunny, warm day, perfect for making the most of it. This photo sums up that day, our day—pure joy. 
Reading a little more about the origin of this day on the internet, I learned that it commemorates the invention of the daguerreotype, a photographic process developed by Louis Daguerre in 1837.
