Previously, I raised an issue affecting not only me but also Local Guides worldwide: immediate rejection of edits—even for locations that clearly do not exist or are inaccurate. The ensuing discussion was lively, and it was confirmed that Google Maps staff were “aware of the issue and working on a solution.” However, nearly a month has passed, and the situation has actually worsened; reports stating that a location does not exist (e.g., a private residence) are being rejected, even when the listing contains nothing but a name and lacks all other details—including the crucial category information. This is baffling, and I would like a clearer explanation from Google Maps staff regarding this pattern of “immediate rejection of location edits, regardless of the specific details or reasons provided.”

I completely understand it’s incredibly frustrating to spend time trying to clean up obvious map errors only to hit an instant automated rejection
Thanks for bumping this thread. Many of us are still dealing with these exact same instant rejections, which is seriously impacting our ability to fix bad data.

To be honest, I wouldn’t make an issue of this if it were just a short-term occurrence or if there had been clearer communication about it—especially since other Local Guides have also raised and discussed this matter. However, a month is a “concerning” amount of time, particularly given the constant changes in my area: new openings, relocations, permanent closures, and a lack of accurate information.
