Some places you visit for sightseeing, and some places you visit for peace. My visit to ISKCON Ahmedabad with @ShreyaMusings and @NituGogoi was a mix of both.
We visited ISKCON Ahmedabad, also known as Sri Sri Radha Govinda Dham, located near the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway in Ahmedabad. The temple is one of the well-known spiritual places in the city and is dedicated to Lord Krishna and Radharani.
As soon as we reached the temple, the beautiful traditional architecture caught our attention. The entrance, decorated pillars and detailed designs give the temple a special look.
We first took some time to look around the temple from outside. We also clicked a few photos together. The weather was bright and the temple looked beautiful in the sunlight.
After entering the temple, the atmosphere changed completely. There were devotees inside, devotional music and the sound of chanting. The temple hall was full of spiritual activity. We took darshan and spent some time inside the temple.
About ISKCON
ISKCON stands for the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. The organisation was founded in New York in 1966 by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
ISKCON is popularly known as the Hare Krishna movement. The organisation follows the teachings of the Bhagavad-gita, Srimad Bhagavatam and the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition.
One of the main practices followed by ISKCON devotees is chanting the Hare Krishna Maha-mantra:

The focus is on bhakti, devotional service, spiritual learning and developing a relationship with Lord Krishna. ISKCON temples also conduct kirtans, aarti, spiritual classes, festivals and prasadam distribution.
During our visit, I noticed the detailed artwork on the walls and pillars. There were paintings showing different stories and pastimes connected with Krishna and Vedic traditions.
The main altar is also beautifully decorated. The combination of the deities, flowers, jewellery, colours and traditional decoration creates a memorable darshan experience.

Darshan Timings
If you are planning your own visit, check the official schedule before leaving because timings change during festivals and special occasions.
The current regular schedule includes morning darshan from 7:15 am, further darshan from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm, afternoon darshan from 4:00 pm, and evening darshan from 6:30 pm onwards. The temple closes between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm and again after 8:45 pm.
I am happy I visited this place with Mohita ji and Nitu ji. The darshan, photographs and time spent together made this visit special for me.
If you are visiting Ahmedabad and looking for a peaceful spiritual place, ISKCON Ahmedabad is a place worth visiting.
