A Mosque in the Mall

Who would’ve thought you could shop for sneakers and serenity in the same place? Nestled inside the vibrant Pakuwon Mall, Surabaya’s largest shopping haven, is the stunning Masjid Al Ittihad—a true hidden gem for Local Guides to discover! Inaugurated in 2019 by the former Mayor of Surabaya, Tri Rismaharini, this mosque is more than just a prayer space—it’s a peaceful retreat amid the hustle and bustle of retail therapy. The moment I stepped in, I was completely mesmerized by how spotless, calm, and beautifully maintained it is. It’s truly a breath of fresh air to find such a sacred spot right inside a mall!

As someone who’s used to spotting mosques along main roads or tucked into quiet neighborhoods, finding Masjid Al Ittihad in the heart of a modern shopping complex felt like uncovering a secret. It’s a thoughtful, inclusive touch that lets shoppers, staff, and visitors pause for prayer or reflection without ever leaving the mall. It’s not just convenient—it’s a meaningful reminder that faith and daily life can go hand in hand. Whether you’re there for fashion, food, or Friday prayers, this unique location makes Pakuwon Mall even more special.

Wow @Ratri
Thanks for sharing about Al Ittehad Masjid in a wonderful Pakuwan mall of Surabaya.
If we can pray here Friday prayers, it means its a big Jama Masjid.
Hey Ratri, why you don’t add google maps links in your post? By this person like me can get virtual tour of the mall and masjid too
Hope to see more posts from lovely city of Surabaya.

Dear @KashifMisidia. I went there last month. It is used regularly for Friday prayers too, so yes it could be considered as Jama Mosque. I think it is the biggest and most beautiful in-mall mosque in Indonesia. Love it so much :green_heart:
