@TravellerG It’s 1Dx, an old flagship camera. My friend was selling it at a nice price. So I bought it.

I will be using two systems: Canon and Sony. What lens do you have?

Because I am totally new to Sony, I want to know your lens recommendation. Thank you in advance! @TravellerG

Good one! For me, mainly weddings, portraits, streets, and events.

Canon 1Dx, 5D3, 1D3. I sold my 5D2 and EF24-70 F2.8 last year - just to downsize a bit.

EF24-105 F4

EF16-35 F2.8

EF70-200 F2.8 II

EF100 Macro F2.8 L

Zenitar Fish Eye 16 F2.8 Manual.

EF85 F1.8

I think I will get a Tamron 28-75 F2.8 and Tamron 50-400.

I will sell my Canon 24-105.

@TravellerG

For 85 1.8, I can keep it for my Canon body, or I can buy a Viltrox 85 1.2 (it’s coming)…

Excellent collection, my dear friend @OliverKIWI

Yes, of course, your camera collections are also good.

Then where comes the Sony? For what you will be using Sony?

My Fisheye lens is from 7Artisans and is extremely good - I use this lens with A6600 to Shoot High Resolution 360 degrees shots (4 shots & stich.

50 mm 1.8 Prime is from Sony.

And a couple of Macros (Sony & Rokinon) .

Hope to see more from you…

@TravellerG I really like Sony’s capability for video. The focus tracking is second to none. I am actually a dual user of both Canon and Sony. 360 photo by stitching 4 pictures! Wow! I never know that. You can start a tutorial.

Hello dear friend, @OliverKIWI

Thanks for your kind response.

If I have forgotten, kindly remind me… Which Sony Model are you using?

“… You can start a tutorial…”

Of course I would have loved to have a couple of tutorials - unfortunately, my free time available with some community work in India, is very limited - in fact, I’m unable to attend many of the posts, on daily basis… I shall try it as soon as I’m a bit free.

Thanks with regards

@TravellerG A7R5, that’s the one I plan to buy. I heard the focusing is second to none!

Can’t agree more @OliverKIWI … so much love and affection brought by photography.

To me, photography is not just about taking pictures and enjoying all the process,- including waking up at wee hours to catch sunrise, diving deep to capture the underwater beauty, hiking to the top of the mountain to get the bird’s eye view and more. For me, photography is like a gateway to celebrate life, to embrace and to love the beauty of nature, humanity, and beyond.

Love it beyond words!

Well said! @indahnuria No matter what level we have, photography brings us more than just a click or “like” on social media. BTW, that’s an hero shot!

Speaking of Canon @TravellerG @OliverKIWI … I am a Canon lady, so to speak  .
I have used it since the first time I learned and fell in love to photography, thanks to my hubby @rudifrakarsa . We had (and lost) some of them… so far we have used 400D, 40D, 60D, 70D, and lastly 5D Mark II , before turning and using more of our smart phones and action cam (especially for diving). Those are the ‘bodies’ then we started collecting the lenses as well  . I love using G15 with Fantasea casing for diving as well.

Well, things we do for the love of photography…

@indahnuria @TravellerG I just hope the Connect Live is back and we will meet…and talk about photography, and life for hours, and hours…it must be face-to-face!

AMEEEEN to that @OliverKIWI … I do have the same wish and hope we can meet. Sir @TravellerG is an avid photographer as well as many of the LGs from all over the world.

But hey @OliverKIWI , we are only 1.5 hours (flying) or 8-hour drive apart! Next time I come to Auckland, or you come down to windy Welly, let’s meet! For now, stay safe and dry! I hope Cyclone Judy (I read it in newspaper today) will not visit Aotearoa  . Not after Hale and Gabrielle please…

Let’s hope everything is back to normal and we can meet up again to celebrate! @indahnuria

We will definitely meet! And I am so looking forward to it!!

Gabrielle hit us hard. I had a friend whose 3 boxes of photos were damaged by the flood. Actually, her whole place was damaged. She showed me that the photo albums were soaked with muddy water. It’s heart-wrench!

Wow, 7RM5…!

That’s a great gear with amazing features, dear @OliverKIWI

Of course, you are right… The AUTOFOCUS is supported by a dedicated processor with multiple capabilities - like, eye surface focusing than eyelash focusing.

And, all the AUTOFOCUS features are available both in Still & video mode.

It is surely competitor for Sony’s own 7S series.

And the AF system (along with powerful AI) works well at even low lights down to - 4EV.

Great…

I had a one day hands on (both day and night) experience of 7RM5 from the local agent - of course, it was an - ‘one of its kind experience’ . (Sorry for the reason of confidentiality, I shot all the shots on their on cards and retuned it - so unable to publish any ).

Thanks for your companionship…

Hello, dear friends, @indahnuria and @OliverKIWI ,

Dear Indah says:

“… For me, photography is like a gateway to celebrate life, to embrace and to love the beauty of nature, humanity, and beyond…”

I feel that your statement may include most of us… Whenever I get a camera, I start seeing the whole world through it - many of photo shoots cover over 14 hours or so (especially when I’m on destinations like Mahabalipuram)… Then people ask me whether I will not get tired?

NO… NOT AT ALL… running with camera makes me more energetic.

&

Hello friend Oliver…

"… and talk about photography, and life for hours, and hours…it must be face-to-face…

Well, we can spend & share days & days together…

I used to conduct training classes to photography enthusiasts and professionals (mostly Sony based sessions) - I used to enjoy a lot & audiences used to leave me very late.

Thanks for the opportunity to talk about “Photography” - my humble hobby which I started in 1969… & proud… Still continuing…

Sincere regards and best wishes to our fellow LG @rudifrakarsa .

Greetings from Bangalore, India
