A Local Guide's Story of Love and Travel

This post is about the most interesting thing(s) I’ve done as a Google Local Guide! My name is Logan and this is a story about how travel and contributions to Maps has been a great addition to my travel lifestyle. After my first contribution as a Guide, I met my girlfriend. We have a lot in common: both of us are biomedical engineers, run in a group with friends around San Diego, love to cook, and are travel enthusiasts!

(Here we are just outside of La Paz in Baja Mexico)

Our trips have included California’s Central Coast, exploring Mexico’s many beach towns, Texas wine tasting, snorkeling in Belize, and witnessing New Mexico’s Balloon Fiesta (to name a few). We even attended a Googler’s wedding! These experiences have brought us ever closer on our journey for love and Google has been there along the way.

During and after each trip, my contributions as a Local Guide has provided me the time to reflect on highlights of our journey together. Whether we visit a modest family owned restaurant, stay at a 5 star hotel, or find something completely new, sharing information along the way has let us remember our good times and sleep well knowing others can learn from our experiences.

(Mass Ascension with friends in Albuquerque, NM. Her home town…)

Over time I have received great feedback on photos and reviews I have left along the way. Whenever I tell friends I am a Google Local Guide they almost always respond, “No way?!?” People I’ve talked to about this platform love learning real people are out there working to maintain Maps accuracy, share reviews, and provide Google feedback for improvements.

Overall, the unique combination of searching for love, exploring the beauty the world has to offer, and sharing a little of that along the way has been the most interesting thing I’ve done as a Google Local Guide.
