I’ve been contributing to Google Maps for quite a while and recently realised how much I genuinely enjoy the Local Guides programme. I love sharing photos and reviews from places I visit and knowing they might help someone else.
I’m currently Level 6 and just wanted to say thank you to the people behind the programme. You probably hear about problems more often than someone simply saying: I really enjoy what you’ve created.
One little question — does Google still occasionally surprise active Local Guides with merchandise, event invitations or other perks? I’ve always been curious about that side of the programme.
Anyway, thanks for keeping it going!

Sorry @Kotovotok. This doesn’t exist. I’m 4 levels and 109,000 points ahead of you, and I’ve never received such an offer. Neither do I wish for it. My satisfaction lies in the fact that my contributions are helping others.
But you are not alone. This question comes up almost every day, but I don’t understand why. Did you see something in the volunteer sign-up form that suggested there would be a reward for our work?
