A journey to the Infamous Khoiyachora Waterfall!

Khoiyachora Waterfall is a hill waterfall which is situated on the hill of Mirsharai, Chittagong, Bangladesh. It is believed that the Khoiyachora Waterfalls, which is flowing almost 50 years ago. It took time to discover its location for massless mountain areas and bushes. Again many people think that this fountain was created due to hilly diversions almost 50 years ago, before that there was no waterfall. Due to the location of the fountain in Khoiyachora union of Mirsarai Upazila, the waterfall has been named ‘Khoiyachora Waterfall’.

Dhaka-Chittagong highway on the north side of the Baratakia market at the Khoiyachora Union of Mirsharai Upazila. The location of the water is 4.2 kilometers east of it.[5] Due to the location of the fountain is in the mountains, it is not possible to reach the top of the fountain directly by using any vehicle. It is possible to reach the village near the fountain using the Dhaka-Chittagong highway or on foot from the side or using local vehicles (e.g. CNG). But there is no arrangement for the rest of the road to reach the mainstream of the fountain in the foothills of the hill, it is possible to reach the feet only.

From Dhaka, it will cost you just Tk 480 for a four-hour bus ride to reach this place. From Chittagong, this is just a 100 taka and 90-minute bus-ride affair. You should get down at Baratakia Bazar. The waterfall is only four km away from here. You can hire a CNG taxi—but that would not take you beyond 1.5 km. The remaining journey must be done on foot.

If you have taken a CNG, you can drive up to a rail gate, cross a bamboo bridge and some farmland to reach the main track. Collect a bamboo or wooden stick from the locality, if you did not bring one with you. This will come handy as you walk into the hills. You should also come with trekking shoes or else it is best to go barefoot. You won’t be able to walk with your everyday shoes here. The road here is tough, serpentine and sometimes dangerous. In some places, it is muddy and slippery.

The government in 2010 announced a hill- area of 2933 hectares extending from Baroiyadhaka block to Kunderhat block as a national park. The Khoiyachora falls is located inside this park. On behalf of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in 2017, the eco-tourism development project has been undertaken by the Department of Forest Department of Chittagong, “Ramgarh-Sitakunda-Reserve Forest”, Khoiyachora Fountain, one of the main objectives is the conservation of the Khoiyachora Waterfall.

The real beauty of Khoiyachora Waterfall can be seen in rainy season and
it is dangerous to trek there in such time.
But trekking there at the end or after the mid of the rainy season,
the beauty of this infamous waterfall can be enjoyed.

This journey was covered within only $12 including foods and travel costs (From Dhaka City
to Khoiyachora Waterfall and travel back to the city)

Hi @atik_shahriar

You’re welcome!

Hi @VitB

I am sorry for the copy and yes, I copied a bit from wikipedia as it shows the location and some information about the government declaration. And I didn’t know if I can take some information from wikipedia or not. Thanks for your help and the link, I have read that and so I hope I won’t do such mistakes again. But the remaining article was written by me as it was the description of my journey.

I know, I cannot share other’s photos and the images I have used in the articles was my photos. The particular one you are talking about was from a photographer I know and I have used that image with his permission. I am sure that I am not infringing on anyone else`s legal rights or copyright.

Thank you for helping me!
