A GREEN APPLE? OR A RED APPLE?

I thought I had seen the biggest Apples in Shoprite, Ikeja City Mall, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria, until I got some Apples from Walmart while visiting some relatives in Richmond, Virginia ???

They were so huge that I had only Frosted Flakes with Milk and Apples for three straight days!

I love Apples and would give an excuse to have an Apple all day long! ?

In almost every country of the world, you can find Apples.

Am I right?

Apples thrive well in template Climates.

In Nigeria, Apples are grown in the Jos Plateau. However, a lot of the Apples sold here are imported from South Africa.

We have the green and Red variants. Some, about the size of the fist of a toddler and some as humongous as the fist of a heavy weight champion.

How big are the Apples sold in your country?

Are they locally cultivated?

How much do they sell for?

Are they sold by weights or as Pieces?

Which is your favorite? A red Apple? Or A Green Apple? Why?

Very interesting write-up on apples, @Ewaade_3A - Virginia is actually one of the top producers of apples in the States  . I don’t know if I’ve ever seen an apple the size of a toddler’s fist as I’m used to them being pretty huge. But that may also explain why I only preferred green apples when I was younger - too huge, but seemed softer than red apples. Now as an adult, I have an appreciation for red apples versus green ones  . Apples are pretty much sold by weight here, based on where I purchase them.

I am from India and the normal size of apple sold here in my country is about 100 to 200 grams on average. Yes they are locally cultivated. You can get a quality of apples here by paying two to five dollars (In Indian Rupee it is 120 -300 per kgs). Yes they sold in Kgs(kilograms) or in pieces somewhere.

@Ewaade_3A I love having Red Apple in my breakfast, and use green apple to make curry. Green apple curry tastes really great with whole wheat parathas.

In India apples are locally cultivated, mostly in North India. They are sold by both Kgs and as Pieces depending upon place, demand and quality. Their size is normally 3-4 inches and by weight approximately 180-250 grams per pieces

Thanks for sharing this with me @SP31 Wow! I never knew that! Just like I never saw oranges so huge and so ripe until I got to Orlando, Florida.

Now, I am wondering why my folks ne’er told me :grinning:

Now, on what end do I place your vote now?

Red! We are red! :grinning:

So, your choice of Apple depends on what exactly you are going to be using it for, not a ‘taste preference’.

Thanks for polling in @YogsatvaYoga

@Ewaade_3A Actully, it should be. But the large part of produce is being exported which is reason for high prices

Hi @Ewaade_3A ,

In Bangladesh they are not cultivated Apple and the price is variable. They sold by weights.

Red and Green both are my favourite.

In India it is also cultivated in Jammu & Kashmir; Himachal Pradesh, hills of Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal. It is also cultivated to a small extent in Arunachal Pradesh; Nagaland,Punjab and Sikkim @Ewaade_3A

We get red most of the time where green is rare. But I love the green one most.

Thank you for sharing a beautiful information. In Odisha or in Indian market it is been sold out in kilograms. Price and shape varries from state to state.

Ooh, I see  @YogsatvaYoga

@Saiyen just said they don’t produce it and one of my other friends on Connect told me India is a neighboring country.

I guess it’s the Bangladeshi that are making Apples expensive for theIndians :see_no_evil: :money_mouth_face:

Wow! You actually know all the states Apples are cultivated in your country, :astonished: You are phenomenal! @SarveswarB

This type; does it taste sour?

I usually feel like it’s a ‘hybrid of the green and red apple’…

Maybe it’s different in India, but it hurts my teeth, so I generally stay away from it…

@Ewaade_3A @Definitely vote for red Apple :apple:

I extremely sorry @Ewaade_3A , Your Indian friend provided wrong information to you. Bangladesh import apples from two countries, South Africa and China. South Africa’s apple’s quality is best from others. Thanks!
