A Dream Journey. "ConnectLIVE 2026 Dublin". Ireland

Hello, dear fellow Local Guides,
I hope you’re all doing great!

As many of you know, this year’s Google Local Guides “ConnectLIVE 2026” event will be held across three different cities. Since I am based in Europe (Portugal), I was honored and excited to receive an invitation to attend the event in Dublin, the capital of Ireland, on May 7th and 8th 2026, was a truly remarkable experience. This was my first time attending the fantastic ConnectLIVE event.

The event was a wonderful melting pot of cultures. While many participants were Local Guides from various European countries, others traveled from afar. I had the pleasure of meeting @SwetaDhondoo from Mauritius, @ChinonsoOnukwugha from Nigeria, and @NarenChandra from India, currently living in Croatia.

I am honored to have spoken with Mr. @ErmesT, Mr. @JanVanHaver, Mr. @OmerAli, Mr. @LuigiZ, Mr. @LudwigGermany, @JaneBurunina, and @TheRealKristin.

I also had the privilege to speak with our TRAC champion, Mr. @MarcoDavoli, and Mr. @Lukas_B.

Additionally, I had the opportunity to spoken with: @AniaKiser, @NatalkaR, @Xander, @LudwigGermany, @YuliiaZa, @stephan.286, @Katarina_Cibikova, @JustynaMad, @Frank_H, @Stella2, @JoseGomez, @MarkAuchincloss, @PeteMHW, and the youngest of all, @clementlabarriere.

  • Reconnecting with a Mentor

A personal highlight of this event was the opportunity to meet Mr. @MortenCopenhagen again. From whom I received many invaluable tips when we first met in Copenhagen back in September 2020. Getting the chance to catch up and share experiences with him once more was truly special.

However, the journey was not without its hurdles. As my application for Portuguese citizenship is currently in progress, I require a visitor visa to enter Ireland. I had to wait nearly eight weeks for the visa result, which was a period filled with a lot of anxiety and uncertainty.

Unfortunately, not everyone was as fortunate. My acquaintance, @mrinmoiHossain, a Bangladeshi Local Guide living in Germany, was unable to join us because his visa process was not completed in time. Similarly, several other Local Guides from the African continent were unable to attend due to delayed visa decisions. Their absence was deeply felt by many of us.

The knowledge and experiences shared over these two days have truly inspired me to continue my contributions with even more passion. And it will help to make our community more prosperous and efficient.

Stay safe, keep contributing, and I hope to see you all again someday.

I am absolutely delighted for you, dear @Roman_Ahmmed, for getting the opportunity to experience such an incredible event surrounded by inspiring people. Events like these are much more than just gatherings; they create lifelong memories through learning, meaningful connections, collaboration, and a strong sense of belonging that stays with us long after the event ends.

I always believe CL is like a runway that gives everyone the confidence and momentum for a smooth takeoff toward the next level, no matter where they currently stand in their journey. The exposure, encouragement, and community spirit often become the turning point for growth and new possibilities.

I can completely understand the anxiety and uncertainty that come with visa delays and last-minute challenges, but sometimes the most rewarding experiences are the ones that test our patience first. In the end, all that matters is that everything worked out well and you were able to be part of this amazing experience.

Thank you for sharing your journey and reflections with all of us, Roman. Wishing you many more milestones, opportunities, and memorable experiences ahead.

@Roman_Ahmmed thank you so much for the kind and motivating words

It was great meeting you in Dublin. I really enjoyed the workshop session together with you and the rest of “Team Julie”. For me, one of the best parts of ConnectLIVE was getting the chance to exchange ideas with passionate Local Guides from many different countries.

Wishing you all the best, and hopefully our paths cross again at a future event :raising_hands:

Stay safe and keep contributing!

Well, what can one say about government procedures, @Roman_Ahmmed ? But yes—after all those hassles—it is certainly a matter of joy that you finally made it to the connect live-26.
Thanks for sharing with us these moments.

I could notice from the photo… almost no Africans. My friend @Yannick_S had that situation too. I hope next year’s host country will allow them in or Google can find another way to say “Thank you” to them

On the other hand, I’m happy for those who actually made it to Dublin. Congrats! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Hey hey!
here comes another recap from someone I really wanted to meet for a very long time.
I absolutely loved reading the recap, it brought so many memories (wish CL events could last forever). Thanks a million for your time, generosity, smiles, and most importantly the positive vibes, it truly felt like we’ve known each other since forever.

This event was extra special because I got to talk about Dublin being the Local local guide. Also, because now those Dublin streets will feel special, forever.

So glad we attended this event, brother, @NarenChandra! It’s crazy to think how far we’ve come from being worried about visas.

Thanks for the invitation, Zagreb is definitely on my list now, and you’re welcome in Lisbon as well.

Keep contributing, see you someday.
