A Cup of Coffee — and a Lesson in Sustainability

Office rush is real. And on days when I feel drained, a good cup of coffee becomes my fuel.

I enjoy exploring cafés and often have specific favorites for different brews :hot_beverage:. For example, when it comes to Vietnamese Cold Brew, I usually head to Mleko or Sliceline Café & Patisserie. Each café has its own specialty, and that’s what makes discovering places on Google Maps so rewarding.

Recently, during a hectic morning, I called Sliceline Café to keep my coffee ready for pickup. I hadn’t slept well and was really counting on that caffeine boost. When I reached the café, I had a few items in hand and found it difficult to carry everything comfortably. So, I requested a carry bag.

What happened next genuinely impressed me.

They handed me a 100% compostable bag.

Not just any eco-labeled bag—but one that clearly mentioned CPCB certification under ISO 17088, meaning it is certified to break down under composting conditions without leaving toxic residue. Curious, I later researched the manufacturer and found they have a strong reputation in sustainable product development.

This wasn’t just packaging—it was a conscious choice.

As Local Guides, we often focus on food, ambience, and service (and rightly so). But small initiatives like this deserve recognition too. Sustainability matters, and when businesses—small or large—make responsible decisions, it creates ripple effects.

I’ve highlighted this initiative in my Google Maps review, because responsible efforts deserve visibility.

I truly hope more businesses move toward certified compostable alternatives and reduce environmental impact, one small decision at a time.

Because sometimes, it’s not just about the coffee.
It’s about the choices behind it. :seedling:

Thank you @KetanChhaniyara for #BagTheChange initiative. I look forward to adding more items to my Eco-Bag Brigade list.

Excellent post @Hemang_Rindani !

As you said this kind of small initiatives are so useful for our environment.

Are the glasses also reusable or just the bag is recyclable?

Thanks

Hi @Cecilita, thank you for looking at the story.
The cups are single use cups (non-reusable) made out of recyclable material.

This absolutely made my day, dear @Hemang_Rindani  Thank you for taking up the #BagTheChange challenge with such sincerity and heart. I loved how you connected a simple cup of coffee to a deeper lesson in sustainability. That is exactly the spirit behind the challenge, small conscious actions that create meaningful impact.

Your story beautifully shows that change does not have to be big or dramatic. It can start with everyday choices. Truly grateful for your participation and for inspiring others in the community to think and act more responsibly :herb::hot_beverage:
