It was just a normal day, suddenly I wanted to smell salty breeze of sea, so was my daughter, then I booked a hotel Skybay Gyeongpo by on line. It took only 5 minutes, and then I started to pack my luggage without any hesitation, and drove 2 hours and a half to go for Gangneung, east coastal area in Korea.
We arrived at night, but night view was just breath taking, so I extended our stay one day more. I did not know at that time that I would stay for 3 nights 4 days in a row in Gangneung. We went up to the roof top pool, and started to swim. It was early April, due to the Covid-19, there were few people in the hotel and no one wanted to go out or go swimming. We were the only people in that roof top infinity pool. And a few hours later, new fellas joined.
They were boys coming with their mother, and three kids started to hang around like an old friends. They kept swimming, splashing, running, and swimming again for whole day.
I started to talk to their mother, as moms are always easy to get familiar when their kids are getting together very well. Eventually, 2 adults and 3 kids went to famous local yummy spot for dinner altogether. And it had been a long time to feel happy with someones who never expected to meet up. And I decided to extend one night stay again.
Next day, these naughty kids played again from the morning to the night, almost for 7 hours at the roof top pool, and finally two moms enjoyed the night swimming at the infinity pool. Interesting thing was, except us, most of the rest people in the pool were couples in romantic mood, but we seemed to come for a family vacation.
Next morning again, we met up at the sea next to the hotel, and if I had no schedule for the next day, we would have extended our stays again… The last day, our kids were almost like siblings, ran for the waves of the sea, fed to the seagulls, and collected a lot of shell…
How lucky to meet the people like old friends in the middle of seashore among countless guests, even it was not planned at all. My one night out at the sea became the long story of 3 nights and four days drama, and you know what? It was only 2 weeks ago, and we will meet up tomorrow again, and this time in Wonju, Gangwondo for 2 nights 3 days planned schedule as friends.
Unplanned travel makes spontaneous relationships. That is why we are attraceted to the moment to take a trip.
