A Classic Cinema Experience at Regent Cinema, Patna 🎬✨

Hello Local Guides,
Cinema has always been a universal source of entertainment, whether you enjoy Bollywood, Hollywood, South Indian, Bhojpuri, or regional films. While OTT platforms have made movie-watching more accessible, I firmly believe that the true magic of cinema can only be experienced in a theatre. The thrill of watching a film on the big screen, with immersive sound and a lively audience, is unmatched.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, visiting movie theatres was a common pastime. However, with the rise of digital streaming platforms, audience numbers in cinema halls have significantly declined. Yet, for true movie lovers, the experience of watching a film in a theatre remains irreplaceable.

My Visit to Regent Cinema, Patna :movie_camera:
This Valentine’s Day, I decided to visit Regent cinema, fun cinema, one of the oldest and most iconic theatres in Patna, located east of Gandhi Maidan. Established in 1929, Regent Cinema has been a cornerstone of entertainment for generations.

Booking & Arrival
We booked our tickets in advance through Bookmyshow for a 10:00 PM to 12:30 AM show. Arriving at 9:30 PM, we parked our two-wheeler in the designated parking area in front of the cinema. Before heading inside, we explored the surrounding area and noticed how the cinema contributes to the local economy—numerous businesses thrive around it, benefiting from the steady flow of moviegoers.

Inside the Theatre

After a security check, we noticed a lift exclusively for elderly and disabled individuals, ensuring accessibility for all. The theater’s interior was adorned with posters of legendary actors from various film industries, evoking a sense of nostalgia and appreciation for cinema history.

Regent Cinema offers two seating categories:

  • Gold :admission_tickets:
  • Platinum :admission_tickets: (which we opted for, as it provides a more premium viewing experience).

The seats were comfortable, and the sound system was powerful, enhancing the overall cinematic experience. The large screen and high-quality visuals made the film feel immersive. The audience’s energy was contagious—cheers and applause added to the excitement of watching the newly released movie “Chhava.”

Interval Experience :popcorn::cup_with_straw:

During the intermission, we explored the food stalls inside the cinema. They offered popcorn, cold drinks, and other snacks—although the prices were slightly higher compared to outside vendors. We also visited the washrooms, which were well-maintained and clean.

Why Choose Regent Cinema?

Supporting a local cinema like Regent goes beyond just watching a movie—it contributes to the local economy and sustains the traditional theatre experience. Here’s why I chose Regent Cinema:

:white_check_mark: Supporting Local Businesses – Visiting the theatre boosts sales for nearby shops, food stalls, and transportation services.
:white_check_mark: Encouraging the Film Industry – Purchasing a movie ticket contributes to the film’s earnings, indirectly supporting actors, filmmakers, and the entertainment industry.
:white_check_mark: Keeping Theaters Alive – With the dominance of OTT platforms, local cinemas need audience support to continue offering the big-screen experience.
:white_check_mark: Public Transport Utilization – Choosing public transport to reach the cinema also benefits local auto-rickshaw drivers and other connectivity providers.

At the End Here is my Review
My visit to Regent Cinema was a fantastic experience—one that reminded me why watching a movie in a theatre is so special. If you’re in Patna and love cinema, I highly recommend visiting this historic venue. Let’s continue to support local theatres and keep the joy of big-screen movie-watching alive!

This is a very entertaining topic here, @IndianRavi !! :sunglasses:

I have been to a few; one is in South Mumbai, Metro Cinemanow as Metro Inox cinema, which was very close to my house. I must have seen countless movies there, seen many star-studded preview shows (premier shows) standing out in the crowd, and waited for the favorite actors to get down from their cars and waved to them!! Very nostalgic memories, my friend.

It’s now converted into a multiplex, but still they have maintained its charisma during renovation, which is good to see.

They have also kept some souvenirs from the past for public view, like this one below: A movie projector was manufactured in 1958 and used in the theater.

Thanks for letting me go in the past for some time. :+1:

Cheers!

@IndianRavi it’s rare thing to see such old theaters operators still in existence…and this one seems a modernized building with almost every facilities…

This theatre is from my district…I found this gem during my Geo walk on 30th of January… It was established in 1936 …and the building only had few minor renovations…it’s still operational
