A Big Teddy Bear Model at Hamad International Airport

Recently I witnessed a big Teddy bear model at Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar. The Bear is 23 ft tall.

Many tourists were busy taking photograph of this sculpture. I took some photos as well. The sculpture is wonderful. Here is my 360 degree photo in Google maps.

More details can be found here on their official page.

@DrShaunak @ Such an incredible sculpture if I’ve ever seen one , and seems like a cuddly one as well . From the photos it looks soft but it’s sculpted from bronze, so that detail in the bear is very impressive.

That’s massive @DrShaunak !

I’m not sure whether it’s supposed to be cute or scary but it definitely attracts attention.

Do you know if it is being displayed in the airport for a reason?

Thanks @SP31 Yes, you are right. The teddy is made out from cast Bronze. However, looking at it from the outside, it will not be understood that it is made of Bronze.

@MortenSI The teddy is too cute and not scary at all. Looking at it from the outside, it is impossible to understand that one is made of bronze.

I searched Google and found out some unknown facts about this teddy here and here . Out of many one is it was previously displaced at New York’s Park Avenue and then it was bought by someone from Qatar Royal family for over $6.8 million.

The big Teddy bear is very attractive. People could hardly pass through Doha international airport without noticing it. It is a piece of art. I wondered the great mind behind the the thought of creating the huge golden Teddy bear and displaying at the airport for all and sundry to see. @DrShaunak thanks for sharing .

Hi @DrShaunak ,
I’m shocked that this bear is made of bronze. It seems that it is made of plush or fur, inside is filled with cotton or syntypone. :teddy_bear:

You’re right @DrShaunak , I had absolutely no idea it was made of bronze. It looks very soft like an actual teddy bear.

I don’t think I will ever undertsand modern day art, but it’s definitely interesting.
