Hello Mam.,

Few days ago I seen this new imoji feature in maps and from that time I started to use emoji reactions on Google maps and I really like this this update… it’s really interesting to react on what you like about in this way… :hugs:

Thank you for sharing with us… :+1:t2: :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :hugs:

This is an interesting and fun update to the app. Thanks for the deep dive, @DeniGu .

I’m curious how the reactions are counted. Currently, the number of ‘helpful votes’ that I see when looking at my review list does not match the ‘Impact’ number on my Reviewer Badge. Is one still counting the plain old :+1: and the other adding in the new emoji reactions? Thanks for any insight.

Great post @DeniGu ! Thanks for shedding more light and clarity on the new emojis. My lingering question was answered about whether the emojis count toward badges. Honorary hat tip to @AdamGT @SholaIB @Cecilita for having there questions featured.

Keep smiling,

Scheria

To be honest this is one of the ideas that I have never thought about before. Appreciation becomes something that important in our community, simple but powerful to make us happier to participate more and more to improve the Google Maps. So, thank you very much for the team behind this idea.

Thank you for the background you provided via this conversation with Ming and Xiaoyu‌ :+1: ‌.
But why don’t we have some negative emojis/reactions? That could help to recognize low-quality contributions and potentially help contributors based on such feedback to improve their photos/videos/reviews in the future ‌ ‌.

I absolutely adore this update and I love the response on the not including negative reaction emojis. Valid question, but I think there is enough negativity in the world that we need to create more atmospheres of positivity! Plus the objective reviews can touch on both angles.

Thank you for sharing @DeniGu !

Perhaps this is because of my visual impairment, but I can’t find out what some of these emoji’s want to indicate: a heart or face that is licking lips is clear to me. But what does an exploding head mean? @WilfriedB : This is literally what my screenreader indicates: it says “exploding head” =describing the emoji. For me, an exploding head is an exploding head, it doesn’t indicate any emotion to me. If I need a list of explanations to understand what is meant with each emoji, I think it’s more efficient to tell what you mean instead of using emoji’s. Folded hands can mean a pleading person or praying, I think, but this all is too abstract for me, I’m afraid. I understand why it’s fun for seeing people, but for me this is visual eyecandy. Screenreaders describe the emoji’s, they don’t tell you what they indicate.

Sorry if I spoil the discussion, but I prefer functional eyecandy cfr. the idea I could post with the help of @ErmesT :

@DeniGu : I have no problem with visual stuff, but if functional, this would be more usefull for those who can’t see it. Thanks.

Cool! I was very happy with this new update, and I believe that for users who use our evaluations daily, to base themselves on their visits, it will be even better.

Congratulations to the Google Maps team.
