A beautiful ‘Periyar Lake’ is located in Thekkady, which is in Idukki district of Kerala. Thekkady is famous for Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. It is at a distance of 195 Km from Cochin, by road it is 5 hours journey from Kochi.
‘Periyar Lake’ is so beautiful that I cannot define it in words. It’s a beautiful lake surrounded by hills, wild animals and dense forest. I enjoyed boating at morning time here with my family and also seen a few wild elephants.
Boating tickets can be purchased online, or from the ticket window, both options are available. But to avoid rushes, booking online is a good choice. Boating ticket cost is Rs.250 per person. Boat ride starts in the morning at 7:30, 9:30, 11:30 & 13:30.
It is very fantastic experience of going through this lake which is silent and covered with forest.
I agree with @PaulPavlinovich , your post is great! Thank you for sharing some insights from this beautiful place with the community. In Europe it’s almost impossible to see wild animals such as elephants out in the open. It’s probably a nice feeling to be close to them in their natural habitat.
