Gurumukh Singh Di Hatti is the best shop in Chandni Chowk, located in Sitaram Bazaar to buy Papad, Badis and Mangodi.
Mangodi (or mangori) is a sun-dried, spiced lentil dumpling, traditionally from the arid regions of Rajasthan. It is made from a thick paste of soaked and ground lentils, most commonly moong dal, which is then piped into small nuggets and left to dry in the sun for several days. Here one can buy three types- Plain, Spicy and Extra Spicy.
The shop is equally famous for Amritsari Badi. These are a traditional Punjabi dried lentil product, primarily made from urad dal or moong dal, that is spiced and sun-dried. Unlike the traditional nugget style badi you get a very different shaped badi here.
Every time we are in the area we buy the Mangodi and Badis here. They are all hand made and are a great addition to any curry. We also regularly buy the Papads here- Amritsari, Rice Masala, Bikaneri and Aloo. All of them are handmade and have great authentic taste.
They are also known for their Besan Papri and Soyabean Chunks. However, we are still to try them.
