If you had told me nine years ago that my phone gallery would be 80% photos of restaurant menus, blurry street signs, and “aesthetic” lattes, I would have probably asked you for directions to the nearest exit. Lol ![]()
But here I am, celebrating 9 years as a Local Guide, and honestly?
My heart is as full as my “Recently Deleted” folder.
The Stats (or, My Digital Legacy)
Google just dropped the bombshell on my notifications, and I had to do a double-take:
-
7,679 Contributions: That’s a lot of “Yes, there is wheelchair access here” and “No, this place is definitely not open on Sundays.”
-
9,143,510 Total Views: Over 9 million views?! That’s like filling a stadium… every single day… for a decade. Knowing my photos helped nine million people decide where to eat or which turn to take makes me feel like a secret superhero (minus the cape, plus a smartphone).
-
23,098 Points: Slowly but surely climbing that ladder!
From a “Back-Bencher” to a Map-Maker
I’ve always been the one who observes first. Whether it’s in my dance class (where I started as a “confused penguin” and ended up leading the pack! Hehe) or in my city, I love watching how spaces come alive.
Being a Local Guide changed how I see the world.
I don’t just “go out” anymore; I go on missions.
I’ve learned that a simple review about a small family-run shop can literally change their business.
Every reaction on a photo (991 of them!) feels like a digital high-five from a stranger saying, “Thanks, Shweta, you saved me a trip!”
A Massive Thank You!
To the community, the fellow explorers, and the people who actually read the long reviews: Thank You! ![]()
Fellow Local Guides who are unstoppable and I inspire me everyday @TusharSuradkar @framesbysumedh @RosyKohli @Gurukrishnapriya @TravellerG
This journey has been about more than just points and levels. It’s about being a “Guru” for the everyday person. It’s about celebrating the hidden gems and making the world a little smaller and a lot friendlier.
Here’s to many more years of wandering, wondering, and, most importantly, UPLOADING!
And they ask me if I like this email?
No, I did not like this email.
I loved it
