For me, January 1st is more than just New Year’s Day—it’s also my Local Guides anniversary!
This year, I’m celebrating 7 years of contributing to Google Maps and Connect, helping people discover new places and make better decisions every single day. ![]()
And yes… I’ll admit it: every year, I excitedly wait for that special anniversary email to land in my inbox! ![]()
There’s just something so rewarding about seeing those milestones written out. How about you all? Do you also find yourself checking your inbox for that anniversary email each year?
To celebrate this 7-year milestone, I’m so excited to relaunch two series I first introduced in 2021: the Health Edu seRies on cOnnect (HERO) and ACCessibility Edu Series (ACCESS). This year, I’m bringing them back with fresh perspectives, new examples, and practical tips to help inspire our amazing community!
Through HERO, I’m looking to bring more focus to health awareness. I want to show how our contributions can build healthier neighborhoods by highlighting vital resources like hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, and wellness spaces. By sharing this data, we help everyone find the care and support they need more easily.
With ACCESS, I’m hoping to broaden how we think about inclusion. It’s not just about physical disabilities—it’s about everyone! Whether it’s nursing rooms for moms, safe street crossings for kids, or priority seating for our elders, accessibility means making sure everyone can move through the world safely and comfortably.
My goal for these series is simple: I want to show that our small edits and reviews as Local Guides can truly make life a little easier, healthier, and more inclusive for everyone
. Together, let’s make Google Maps more than just a tool for directions
—let’s make it a global home for well-being and inclusion.
Stay tuned for HERO Part 2
and ACCESS Part 4
— coming your way soon!
