61 Feet Tall Idol of Ganpati in Hyderabad

Hello Local Guides ,

Ganpati is the favorite time of the year for all the people in India , and in Hyderabad we have a special reason to wait for this festival , Every year there is tall ganesh idol that is installed in khairatabad area of Hyderabad , this year the height is 61 feet and it is humongous

Ganesh idol will be depicted in Dwadashi Aditya Maha Ganapati avatar which is believed to give adequate rainfall and good climate. The idol will have 13 faces of different gods, 24 hands holding weapons and seven horses pulling a chariot.

Thousand of people visit and get blessings from the lord every day until Nimarjan

@NarenChandra That is a very tall statue indeed (I notice people below). Is this statue only for this festival, so it not a permanent structure throughout the year? How long is the celebration?

HI @StephenAbraham it is just for 11 days in a year, these 11 days people take blessings from ganesha and after the 11th day they do this city parade of the idol and immerse in it a lake nearby

generally there used to be a 6000 kgs laddu(sweet) in the palm of ganesha but this year they skipped it

here is a image from internet showing the city parade

@NarenChandra That is a really really tall statue! If this is mobile on a vehicle (I can see it), it has to be made out of quite light and durable material, but still needs to be strong enough for moving and stand against wind. And the crowd is really large too. Quite an amazing sight, really.

Hi @NarenChandra

Yes I totally agree with you, the 61 foot tall idol of Ganpati sure is humongous!!! It’s also very colorful and ornately decorated. It’s great that your photo includes people in it so we can readily see how humongous it really is. Thank you for sharing.
