Some of you may have read 3 Special Themed Convenience Stores Only in Taipei before and seen how fun and special a convenience store can be. Voila! Today, here comes part 2 of this series to explore what themes are there besides those of Part 1 (Hello Kitty, Sumikko Gurashi, and Lay’s) to bring more joy in our daily life.

In this article, we’d see American cartoon characters, Snoopy and Mickey Mouse; Japanese characters, Pokémon and Detective Conan; and the mascot of the convenience store, OPEN-chan!

Being one of the most beloved characters around the world, the Snoopy themed store is a must-not-miss, especially if you’re a fan. Though the store itself isn’t as big as others, the existence of Snoopy still makes it a fun land.

Unlike other characters mentioned in this article who are born from cartoons or comics, OPEN-chan is the mascot of the convenience store brand. The name of this lovely creature is from their slogan, “always open!” As some of you may know that convenience stores in Taiwan are open 24/7.

Thanks for the comment. Glad you find this article interesting!

True, it’s a cool way to attract customers and photo-takers like me.

Ohhh, the mickey mouse is one of my favorites too, especially the seating area.

Hi @indahnuria ,

Thank you for the nice words! So happy to know that you love the content. :hugs:

And yes! It’s truly amazing to see different themes these stores feature, from cartoons, comics, mascots, to even brands.

The title made the child in me smile and feel giggly :see_no_evil:

I like the cover photo in particular. It reminds me of one cartoon from my childhood. I had to check the name to see it’s not the same. They need each of the two cartoon characters after two of my elder sisters.

Nice colorful photos you got here @ChanneLing

Hi @StephenAbraham ,

Thanks for the comment! Happy to know that you love this article. :hugs:

I was pretty surprised when I saw the themed convenience store the first time, and it’s now getting more and more. I guess the enterprise realized how powerful this method is to promote their brands and shops and as a result, makes it a trend.

:speak_no_evil:

Let’s keep that a secret. But, these days many adults watch cartoons either compelled by their kids or something that grew with them from Childhood @ChanneLing

Haha, true. @Ewaade_3A

For me, I’m the latter one. Like today, I still feel pretty attached when I see a character I used to love. It brings back the happiness I felt when I was a kid, and that’s the most precious! :hugs:

Oh… You’re so lucky to live in Taiwan where there are so many cute themed cafes and convenience stores.

That mickey’s ears chair is so cute!!!

My bf is a big fan of pokemon, so I’m going to share this 7-11 to him. I bet he’ll buy so much merchandise when visiting this store :joy:

Yassssssss! You should defo come again to visit! @Velvel

Pokemon is huge hahaha! It was very popular with animation, comics, and video games. Then its popularity boosted again after they released Pokemon Go. Like, some of my friends are big fans too and are still playing that game.

I really want to @ChanneLing

Actually, my bf is a hardcore Pokemon Go player :joy:

Last month, he took me to an offline event of Pokemon Go in Jakarta. And you know what, since that time until now, I become a Pokemon Go player as well (but not hardcore LOL  ).

It’s a fun and interactive game!

Do you also play Pokemon Go? We could be friend then!

An offline Pokemon Go event? Wow! that sounds like a lot of fun! @Velvel

I used to play it a lot when the game first came out. You know, going out every night for an hour walk just to collect miles to raise Pokemons lol. But one day, I found that some gamers are cheating with plug-ins which ruined the whole experience. :joy: Actually, I reinstalled the game once, but it didn’t last long as I realized that it took too much time from me hahaha.

Despite that, I still love Pokemon! You know, with comics, animation, and fan art/fiction. Yet I gotta admit, I’m a big fan of Digimon too!

Yes, Niantic (the company that develops Pokemon Go) often organizes both of the online and offline Pokemon Go event worldwide @ChanneLing

It’s so much fun as there’s a also a community just like here we are as a Local Guide.

In 2018, my bf even visited Tainan to attend that offline event  He really enjoyed it!

Ah… That’s too bad for cheating that makes the experience doesn’t fun and challenging as before

Oh, I used to play Digimon on gameboy before hehehe… But still, I like Pokemon more.

Is there any Pokemon themed cafe in Taiwan just like Rilakkuma Café Taipei that I’ve visited before?

Sadly that this cafe is permanently closed as I can see from Google Maps :persevere:
