I used Google Maps to found the best places in area and also found favorite’s food somewhere. I usually need to explore places that I have never visited. Therefore I rely on Google Maps and Local Guides for best recommendation before we visited.

My husband always engages me and my children attend a consignment with his colleague. Consignment is usually done at hotels, resorts, other places of interest. From here, I started to contribute, provided reviews and shared interesting places that I have visited. In addition, when I had vacation with family, eat with friends, or shopping at a complete shopping center, I can directly help others with my knowledge.

For me this is very exciting, because when you are finding interesting places, you can immediately share your experiences. If you find a place to eat / hotel / anything that sucks, you can also immediately share your bad experiences with many people. So our experienced is more useful.
Besides, I can also help raise the level of business of my friends, so their business can be more in demand.

The most interesting thing that I’ve done are:

  1. When I received feedback from all of vendors that I have reviewed (whether I made a good or bad review). I feel so honored because my opinion have been heard and prepared as input for improvement.
  2. When I knew the number of people who viewed my reviews and photos. It makes me more enthusiastic to share my experienced and how to make a good review and good photograph. More than that, I excited to maximize all of features in Google Maps.
  3. When I got voucher or discount. It’s like a sweet surprise for what I’ve done.
  4. When I got notification that I went up to the next level. It makes me excited to contribute more.
  5. When I got invitation to attend Connect Live 2020 that will be held in Bay Area, California. Wow that’s a big opportunity for me especially, and for every Local Guides to learn, explore, provide input, and celebrate the achievements of Local Guides global community.

Helping people can be very easy to do wherever you are, from home, in the car, or somewhere . In the future I will continue to discuss features of Google Maps that I don’t know yet. Hopefully in the future I can meet other Local Guides and become more expert Local Guides.
