5 Places to visit and spend time in Erbil

Erbil is located in the north of Iraq (the Capital of Kurdistan Region), the Region is considered safer and more prospers than the rest of Iraq due to its security stability and peaceful coexistence between variant nationalities, religions and ethnic groups.

After the downfall of Saddam Hussein’s regime in 2003, the city witnessed a rapid reconstruction, many foreign companies risked their wealth by investing in tourism.

Here are (5) places to visit and spend time in Erbil:

  1. Erbil Citadel: It is one of the oldest cities in the world, according to NASA Erbil Citadel is the oldest human-occupied settlement on earth dating back to 6000 years B.C.

  1. Shanidar Cave: is an archaeological site located on Bradost Mountain.The remains of ten Neanderthals, dating from 35,000 to 65,000 years ago, have been found within the cave.

  2. Korek Mountain Resort and Spa: is a tourist attraction as an international destination which has 132 villas and several rides there are also restaurants and cafes. The resort is a summer retreat providing cool environs when the whole region reels under high temperatures. During winters, it turns into a Ski Resort.

  3. Many modern markets: there are several modern markets in Erbil where international brands are located, such as Carrefour, Majidi Mall, Tablo Mall, and Mega Mall.

  4. Vast number of hotels: there are many fancy hotels including restaurants, Spas, pools and gym for instance Erbil Rotana, Divan Hotel and Arjaan by Rotana.

This is indeed a very interesting post @rebaznajat . I did not relate this region with tourism, but you are right to promote it.

I would love to go there once. There are in fact so many historical key attractions in Iraq.
